Ronald Samuel Marshall Lay (18 February 1917 – 9 November 1996) was an English cricket umpire.

Lay began as an umpire in club matches across Northamptonshire, [1] before officiating in matches in the Minor Counties Championship from 1950. [2] He first officiated in first-class cricket in 1953, standing in the match between Northamptonshire and Scotland at Peterborough. He was appointed to the first-class list of umpires in 1956 and proceeded to stand in 303 first-class matches between 1956 and 1968, predominantly in the County Championship. [3] He additionally stood in 12 List A one-day matches between 1963 and 1968. [4] He missed part of the 1964 season after being struck on the foot and injured by a ball which had been straight driven by Ted Dexter. [1] Lay died at Northampton in November 1996.

He was a left-handed top order batsman and occasional right-arm medium pace bowler. He attended Worksop College and was a member of the College cricket XI for a number of years.

Claud Woolley

Claud Neville Woolley was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Gloucestershire and Northamptonshire. He also served as a first-class umpire and stood in one Test during the 1948 Ashes series. A right-hand batsman and right-arm slow-medium bowler, he is the older brother of Frank who had a more successful playing career including representing England in 64 Tests.

David Halfyard

David John Halfyard was an English professional cricketer who played first-class cricket for Kent County Cricket Club and Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club between 1956 and 1970. He was primarily a bowler and took nearly 1,000 wickets during his first-class career. He also played Minor County cricket for Northumberland, Durham and Cornwall and was an. Following a road traffic accident in 1962, Halfyard retired from cricket to become an umpire but was able to return to the game in 1968.

Thomas 'Tommy' Guy Wilson is a former English cricket umpire from Bretherton, Lancashire. Wilson first stood as an umpire in a Minor Counties Championship match between Shropshire and Cambridgeshire in 1969. Seven years later he stood in his first first-class match between Yorkshire and Lancashire in the County Championship. In that same year he stood in his first List A match between Yorkshire and Northamptonshire in the 1976 John Player League. In total, Wilson stood in 25 first-class matches from 1976 to 1986, and 35 List A matches from 1976 to 2002, standing in his final List A game in the 1st round of the 2003 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy between Buckinghamshire and Suffolk which was held in 2002. In addition, Wilson stood in 151 Minor Counties Championship matches from 1969 to 2004, as well as 36 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches from 1983 to 2002. Wilson also stood in 37 Second XI Championship matches from 1972 to 2000.
