Ronald "Rony" Gardener was an Olympian and field hockey player from Pakistan. He played two matches for Pakistan's National Field Hockey Team. [1] He was part of the Pakistani national team during the 1960 Summer Olympics where Pakistan won the gold medal after defeating India.
The 1960 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XVII Olympiad and commonly known as Rome 1960, were an international multi-sport event held from 25 August to 11 September 1960 in Rome, Italy. Rome had previously been awarded the administration of the 1908 Summer Olympics, but following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 1906, the city had no choice but to decline and pass the honour to London. Qazi Salahuddin was a Pakistani field hockey player. He played for the Pakistan's National Field Hockey Team from 1967–69. He was part of the Pakistan national team at the 1968 Summer Olympics where Pakistan took the gold medal after defeating Australia in the Final by 2-1 in Mexico City, Mexico. Salahuddin has also served as the coach of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa women hockey team.
Abdul Aziz Naik was a Pakistani field hockey player. He was the fourth son to his father Ghulam Mohy Uddin Naik and mother Hakim Bibi. Born in Peshawar, Pakistan on 29 September 1936, Aziz Naik was a patriot to his country. Aziz Naik served in the Pakistan Airforce in 1952 and later became a national celebrity when he represented Pakistan in Summer Olympics: Melbourne in 1956. Graduated from Punjab University, Aziz Naik played for University Eleven 1948. Represented N.W.F.P. in National Championships in 1949-50. Played for the Pakistan Airforce in 1952. Aziz Naik represented Pakistan against German Eleven in 1954 and toured with the Pakistan National Hockey Team in Singapore and Malaya in 1955. In 1956, Aziz Naik was a member of Pakistan field hockey team at Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia where his country won a Silver Medal.
