Rosaline Patricia Irorefe Bozimo (born 1 January 1946) is a Nigerian lawyer who was appointed Chief Justice of Delta State with effect from 23 March 2003. [1] She retired on 1 January 2011 and was succeeded by Honorable Justice Abiodun Smith. [2] During the tenure of Walter Onnoghen as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN),she served as the Administrator,National Judicial Institute (NJI). [3]
Rosaline Bozimo was born on 1 January 1946 in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State. She attended St. Maria Goretti Grammar School,Benin City for her Secondary education,and then Urhobo College,Effurun. In September 1970 she was admitted to Ahmadu Bello University,Zaria,gaining a degree in law in 1973. She then went to the Nigerian Law School and was called to Bar in 1974. [1]
After National Youth Service in Enugu and Onitsha in the then East Central State,she became a private legal practitioner in 1975. With her husband Alaowei Broderick Bozimo she was a founding partner of Broderick Bozimo &Co. She was briefly a member of the Judiciary of the old Bendel State as a Magistrate,before returning to private law practice (1978–1983). In December 1983 she was again appointed a Magistrate of Bendel State,becoming a Chief Magistrate in August 1988. When Delta State was created out of the old Bendel State in 1991,she became the first Chairman of the Tenders Board of the High Court of Delta State,and Chief Registrar of the state High Court in September of the same year. In December she was sworn in as a High Court judge. [1]
The Military Administrator of Delta State,Colonel Bassey Asuquo,appointed her Chairman of the Armed Robbery and Firearms Tribunal,Effurun,Delta State. She was also chairman,Failed Banks Tribunal,Enugu Zone. After serving as Administrative Judge in three Judicial Divisions,she was appointed as the Chief Judge of Delta state with effect from 23 March 2003. [1]
In December 2003 in a bid to ease the congestion in prisons,Rosaline Bozimo set free 59 prisoners awaiting trial. She warned police against dumping suspected criminals in prisons without making real efforts to prosecute them. [4] In September 2007 Bozimo sacked Agbor Chief Magistrate,Mr. Charles Maidoh based on allegations he had been collecting a N5,000 bribe for each application for bail he granted. [5]
In November 2007,at the All Nigeria Judges Conference,she spoke about the National Judicial Council (NJC),which is charged with monitoring and evaluating judges. After giving a brief history of the NJC and discussing its roles,she gave a very positive appraisal,stating that standards of judicial conduct were now extremely high throughout Nigeria. [6] In October 2007 Bozimo made a strong case for the financial autonomy of the judiciary in Delta State and canvassed for better working conditions for members of the state's judiciary. [7]
In November 2008,Bozimo and Delta State Governor,Emmanuel Uduaghan approved establishment of sanitation mobile courts to prosecute sanitation offenders in the State. [8] Due to repeated petitions over electoral irregularities,Bozimo appointed Local Government Election Tribunals for three zones of the state,adding a fourth in August 2009. [9]
Delta State is a state in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Named after the Niger Delta—a large part of which is in the state—the state was formed from the former Bendel State on August 27,1991. Bordered on the north by Edo State,the east by Anambra and Rivers States,and the south by Bayelsa State while to the west is the Bight of Benin which covers about 160 kilometres of the state's coastline. The State was initially created with 12 local government areas in 1991 which was later extended to 19 and now has 25 local government areas. Asaba as its state capital is located along the River Niger on the northeastern end of the State,while the state's economic centre is Warri on the southwestern coastline.

Originally established pursuant to Title V of the Constitution of 1812 to replace —in all matters that affected justice—the System of Councils,and currently regulated by Title VI of the Constitution of 1978,it has original jurisdiction over cases against high-ranking officials of the Kingdom and over cases regarding illegalization of political parties. It also has ultimate appellate jurisdiction over all cases. The Court has the power of judicial review,except for the judicial revision on constitutional matters,reserved to the Constitutional Court.
Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan was the Governor of Delta State from 2007 to 2015. He assumed office via an inconclusive election on 29 May 2007 and was a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). A medical doctor by profession,prior to becoming governor,he was the Commissioner for Health,Delta State and the Secretary to the State Government. Dr. Uduaghan ran again for governor in the 26 April 2011 elections,and was re-elected.
Alaowei Broderick Bozimo is a Nigerian lawyer who was appointed Minister of Police Affairs by President Olusegun Obasanjo in July 2003. In January 2007 the Ministries of Police Affairs and Internal Affairs were merged into the new Ministry of the Interior,and Bozimo became a Minister of State in the new ministry.
Justice Victor Ovie Whisky was chairman of the Federal Electoral Commission (FEDECO) appointed by President Shehu Shagari during the Nigerian Second Republic. He held office from 1980 to 1983.

It is one of the oldest and most prestigious colleges in Delta State and Nigeria,having produced many notable figures in the Nigerian professional and political scenery. The school has literally raised several generations of Nigerians from all tribes and backgrounds and schooled them in the best tradition of scholarship,athleticism,citizenship and morality. The 60th anniversary celebration of the foundation of Hussey College,Warri was organised by the Old Students Association in 2007.
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) of Kenya is an independent Commission established under Article 171 of the Constitution of Kenya. Its mandate as stipulated in Article 172 of the Constitution is to promote and facilitate the independence and accountability of the Judiciary and the efficient,effective and transparent administration of justice. The commission has 11 members with the initial team appointed in December 2010.

Daisy Wotube Okocha served as the 7th Chief Judge of Rivers State,in charge of the state's High Court of Justice,and Judicial Service Commission. She was appointed to the office by Governor Ezenwo Wike on 4 January 2016,and held it until her retirement on 15 January 2016. She had also served as Chief Judge in an acting capacity before attaining the substantive appointment.
