Udu is a Local Government Area in Delta State, Nigeria with its local government headquarters at Otor-Udu. It has a population estimate of approximately 250,000 people. It is one of the Urhobo kingdoms, has its own king, or ovie. The town is about 10 minutes drive from Osubi Airport
The land is interlocked by rivers flowing across. It has a tropical weather and rain forest with evergreen vegetation and plantation all year round. Its geographical feature consists of numerous streams that inter-connect into an intricate web of rivers, lagoons, swamps and wetlands. [1] It is a boundary city/local government and a suburb of Warri metropolis and is connected from Enerhen by the Udu Bridge over Warri River.

The villages that makes up of the present Udu local government area are historically grouped into three sub-clans.
These are the villages and towns: Aladja, Ovwian, Emadadja, Egini, Obubu, Ubogo, Oleri, Oto Udu, Ogbe Udu, Ukpiovwin, Ukperheren, Ayama, Ekrota, Ugbisi, Owhrode, Ekete Oboto, Ekete Uburhie, Okolo Uburhie, Okolo Oboto, Ovworhokpokpo, Erhiephiho, Egiegi, Epame, Ujevwu, Oghior, Ohwase.
These are Orho-Uwherun (Orhuwhorun) (Uwherun settlement), Igbogidi, and DSC Township, new town founded due to the construction of Delta Steel Company (DSC) at Aladja, Steel Township.
These are Opete, Okpaka and Enerhen.
Udu's natural resources include rubber and rubber products, palm oil and palm products, cassava, fruits, vegetables and maize available in large quantities. Silica is available in a nearby town for the manufacture of glass and also is crude oil, natural gas and other minerals for the petrochemical industry.
To the right of the Udu Bridge are the Delta Steel plant, Africa's first direct steel reduction variety of metallurgy, and Udu market.[ citation needed ] A Shell gas processing facility is situated near Otor-Udu, together with other engineering companies.
A railway line connects Itakpe-Ajaokuta to Warri through Aladja.

Ajaokuta is a Local Government Area in Kogi State, Nigeria and a town within it on the left bank of the Niger River. The headquarters of the LGA are in the town of Egayin in the south of the area at 6°40′11″N8°48′19″E.

Ovwian is a town in the Udu Clan, Delta State, Nigeria. Its population is over 20,000,000. Ovwian shares boundaries with Aladja, Ekete, Owhase, Egini, Orhuwhorun and Ujevwu communities. Ovwian is the biggest town in the Udu Local Government area.
Aladja is a coastal town in Delta State, Nigeria. It is located on the bank of southern part of River Warri. The majority of the people are of Udu, a sub-group of Urhobo ethnic group. a section of the town was occupied by some people of Ijaw ethnic group who eventually migrated because of the bloody land disputes that existed between Urhobos and Ijaws in the 1990s. The Delta Steel Company (DSC), an integrated steel manufacturing industry is situated on hectares of land provided by both Ovwian and Aladja communities but the steel plant is currently redundant as a result of mismanagement. However, the federal government of Nigeria, is making concerted effort to privatize the plant. It was recently linked with a modern rail line from northern part of the country to ease the transport of raw materials and finished products (steel) between the plant and other parts of the country. Aladja, as a coastal community, it has been a haven of commerce between the coastal people and hinterland since ancient times. The act of trade by barter is still being practiced in the popular Aladja Market to this day. Aladja has served for many decades as the route to old Warri mainland via its famous 'Aladja Waterside' until the construction of the Udu Bridge in 1975 as an alternative route to Warri and its environs.

The Orhuwhorun people
Emevor is a town in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, southern Nigeria. Its population was 8000 as of 2009. Emevor shares boundaries with the villages of Ebor-Iyede, Agharha, Otor Owhe and Orogun. It is about 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) to the East of Ughelli township stadium. It has two markets locally known as "Ekiedhe" and "Ekiewo". The traditional ruler of Emevor is known as Odion. There are however other community leaders such as president general, chairman, etc. It is historically known to be a peaceful place. The people speak a distinct Isoko language. It is an oil producing community in the Niger Delta region.
Echie administratively known as Etche is an indigenous Igbo group mostly found in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. Presently, its people makeup Etche and Omuma, two of the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State the can also been found in Ngor Okpala L.G.A and Omuma town both in Imo state. They are part of the 13 federal constituencies representing River State in Nigeria's National Assembly and part of the Rivers East Senatorial District. Its people are mostly farmers, and they speak the Etche dialect of the Igbo language family.
The Urhobos are people located in southern Nigeria, near the northwestern Niger Delta.
The Okomu Forest Reserve is a forest block covering an area of 1081 km2 in Edo State, about 50 km west of Benin City, Nigeria. The Okomu National Park lies within the larger reserve, maintaining a small part of the forests that once covered the region as the last habitat for many endangered species.

The Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate (NDGJM) is a militant group operating in Nigeria's Niger Delta region. The group was founded on August 2, 2016 in Delta State and is composed mainly of ethnic Urhobos, and a fairly large number of members belonging to the Isoko ethnic group.
Owhrode is a community in the Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria.
The Niger Delta swamp forests is a tropical moist forest ecoregion in southern Nigeria. It consists of freshwater swamp forests in the Niger Delta of the Niger River. This swamp forest is the second largest in Africa after the Congolian swamp forests. Although there are large cities just outside the ecoregion, the area has been relatively isolated by the difficulty of building roads across the swamps, although this is changing with development of oil and logging industries. Scientific surveys have only begun in recent years, and new species were being identified into the 1990s. Crude oil exploration and pollution has been a threat to forests in the Niger Delta region.
