Ughelli South is a Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. [1] It is made up of six Urhobo kingdoms namely: Ughievwen,Otor, Eghwu Arhavwarien, Effurun , Okparabe and Olomu. [2] Otu Jeremi is the headquarters of Ughelli South LGA. [3] It is the fourth most populated local government in Delta State.
It had an area of 786 square kilometres (303 sq mi) and a population of 213,576 as of the 2006 census. The postal code of the area is 333. [4]
The city of Warri is an oil hub within South-South Nigeria and houses an annex of the Delta State Government House. Warri City is one of the major hubs of the petroleum industry in Nigeria. Warri, Udu, Okpe and Uvwie are the commercial capital of Delta State with a population of over 311,970 people in 2006. The city is the indigenous territory of Itsekiri, Urhobo and Ijaw people.
Delta State is a state in the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria. Named after the Niger Delta—a large part of which is in the state—the state was formed from the former Bendel State, on 27 August 1991. Bordered on the north by Edo State, the east by Anambra and Rivers states, and that south by Bayelsa State while to the west is the Bight of Benin which covers about 160 kilometres of the state's coastline. Echie administratively known as Etche is an indigenous Igbo group mostly found in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. Presently, its people make up Etche and Omuma, two of the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State they can also be found in Ngor Okpala L.G.A and Omuma town both in Imo state. They are part of the 13 federal constituencies representing River State in Nigeria's National Assembly and part of the Rivers East Senatorial District. Its people are mostly farmers, and they speak the Etche dialect of the Igbo language family.

Oshimili South Local Government Area is one of the twenty-five Local Government Areas making up Delta State. It is situated in the Niger Delta Region/the South-South geo-political zone of Nigeria. It was part of the Asaba Division of the Southern Protectorate in Colonial Nigeria and later a part of the Western Region following the delineation of the country into Three Regions through the Richard's Constitution of 1946. It later became part of the Mid-Western Region in 1963, and Mid-Western State in 1967. It became part of Bendel State and was carved out of the old Asaba Division in 1976 as part of Oshimili Local Government. It became Oshimili South Local Government in 1996 after the creation of Delta State from the defunct Bendel State in 1991.
