Rose is a 2014 Kannada romantic drama film starring Ajay Rao and Shravya. The film is directed by Sahana Murthy and produced by Tharun Shivappa. The music for the film is composed by Anoop Seelin. [1] The film is set for a simultaneous release in India and Australia on 4 July 2014. [2] [3]
The film was launched in May 2013 and is an intense emotional love story involving the Rose flower as a central character. The filming took place around Bangalore, Mysore and went abroad to shoot three songs. The film is expected to be remade in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages with the distributor already sold the film to a leading Bollywood production house for ₹ 75Lacs. [4]
The audio of the film was launched in January 2014 in Bangalore. The event was attended by the cast and crew of the film. [5] Anoop Seelin has composed five tracks for the film.

A critic from The Times of India wrote that "While the first half of the film doesn't have much to offer, it gains momentum in the second part, keeping the audience hooked". [6]
Sampath Kumar, known by his stage name Vishnuvardhan, was an Indian actor who worked predominantly in Kannada cinema besides also having sporadically appeared in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam language films. Vishnuvardhan has a prolific career spanning over four decades, during which he has acted in more than 220 films. A popular cultural icon of Karnataka, and holds the status of a matinée idol amongst the Kannada diaspora. He is popularly called as Sahasa Simha, Dada and The Angry Young Man of Kannada Cinema. Vishnuvardhan's contributions to Kannada cinema have been praised by his contemporaries in the Indian film industry. The Government of Karnataka honoured him with the Rajyothsava Prashasthi in 1990 and the Dr. Rajkumar Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 for his contributions to Kannada cinema. He was called The Phoenix of Indian Cinema. In 2008, a poll conducted by CNN-IBN listed Vishnuvardhan as the most popular star in the Kannada film industry.

While the Marathi play was adapted into Kannada earlier as Housefull, the Tamil adaptation of the English play titled Thikku Theriyatha Veettil was made into a Tamil movie Veettuku Veedu which was remade in Kannada earlier as Galate Samsara - thus making this the third Kannada on-screen adaptation of the original play.
