Rose Jerotich Kosgei (born 22 August 1981) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in half marathon and marathon races.
She initially started out as a 1500 metres runner and placed fourth in the event at the World Junior Championships in Athletics in 1996 and 1998, before going on to claim the silver medal at the 2000 World Junior Championships in Athletics. [1] She was the gold medallist in the 1500 m at the 1997 African Junior Athletics Championships. [2] She also competed in cross country running and lifted the junior title at the 1997 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, taking the team title alongside Priscah Jepleting. [3]
After her junior career, she initially focused on running the 5000 metres as a senior, but focused on road running competitions from 2007 onwards. [1] In 2008, she was runner-up at the Dallas Half Marathon and the Carlsbad 5000 [4] She ran a personal best and course record of 1:09:03 hours at the 2009 Prague Half Marathon and then placed third at the Freihofer's Run for Women. [5] [6] She was the winner at that year's New York Mini 10K. [7] After a defence of her title at the Prague Half Marathon, [8] her marathon debut came at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in September and she came in eighth place with a time of 2:30:52 hours. Kosgei came within a second of her personal best at the RAK Half Marathon, where she finished in fourth place. [10] In attempt for a third straight win, she ran at the Prague Half Marathon, but failed to top the podium on this occasion, coming in third place instead. [11] An outing at the 2011 Hamburg Marathon and although her time of 2:39:40 hours was much slower than her best, she still took sixth place overall. [12]
Priscah Jepleting Cherono, née Ngetich is a Kenyan professional runner who specialises in the 5000 metres and cross-country running. She represented Kenya in the 5000 m at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She is the Kenyan record holder over the two miles distance.
Terefe Maregu Zewdie, also known as Dereje Maregu and Zwedo Maregu, is an Ethiopian runner who specializes in the 5000 metres. His personal best time is 13:06.39 minutes, achieved in July 2004 in Rome.
Paul Malakwen Kosgei is a Kenyan long-distance and marathon runner. He first came to prominence in athletics by taking the World Junior Record of 3000m steeple in 1997, and later with consecutive medals at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships from 1998 to 2000.
Eyerusalem Kuma is an Ethiopian long-distance runner, who competes in marathons. She has a personal best of 2:24:55 hours for the distance and was the 2009 winner of the Amsterdam Marathon.
Lydia Cheromei is a Kenyan athlete born into a family of athletes. She specialises in long distance running. She rose to fame at the age of thirteen with a win in the junior race at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships. She took some years away from competition, citing burnout, and returned in the mid-nineties, making an appearance at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Asha Gigi Roba is an Ethiopian long-distance runner who specialises in the marathon. Her personal best of 2:26:05 hours was set in 2004 at the Paris Marathon, where she came second. She represented Ethiopia in the event at the 2004 Summer Olympics and the World Championships in Athletics. She has won the Toronto Waterfront Marathon and the Florence Marathon.

She has won marathons in Mumbai and Amsterdam and represented her country at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics. She has personal bests of 2:23:02 hours for the marathon and 1:08:21 hours for the half marathon.
