Roselyne M. Jua is a Cameroonian scholar, poet, and literary critic. She teaches English and American Literature at the University of Buea, Cameroon. Her work explores themes of identity, displacement, gender, and the socio-political landscape of Cameroon and the African diaspora. She is known for her poetry collections and contributions to literary criticism. [1]
After obtaining a BA (Hons) from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, and a PhD from SUNY at Buffalo, New York she now teaches English and American Literature at the University of Buea, Cameroon. [1] [2]
In 2012, she published the poetry collection The Betrayed Town and Other Poems, [2] which explores themes of nostalgia, exploitation, and resilience. [3] She plans to release another poetry collection, titled In My Father’s House. [4]
She has written two dramas: The Barn [5] and The Tragedy of Mr No-Balance, [6] co-authored with Kwo Victor Elame Musinga, both of which critique corruption and societal issues in Cameroon. [1]
Jua and Bate Besong co-wrote the 2009 book To the Budding Creative Writer: A Handbook, which offers guidance for aspiring writers. [7]
She edited the book Emerging Perspectives I: Anglophone Cameroon Drama and Theatre, which examines the evolution of drama in Anglophone Cameroon. [4]
