Roshan Basheer (born 28 June 1991) is an Indian actor, [2] who appears in Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil language films. He is best known for his role as Varun Prabhakar in the 2013 drama-thriller film Drishyam .

Career

Roshan made his acting debut by playing one of the lead roles in the Malayalam coming-of-age film, Plus Two (2010). [3] Later, he did films such as Banking Hours (2012), [4] Tourist Home (2013) and Red Wine (2013).[ citation needed ] Roshan Basheer then portrayed the pivotal villainous character in Jeethu Joseph's successful Drishyam (2013), before being selected to reprise his role in the film's Telugu version Drushyam (2014) [5] and then the Tamil version, Papanasam (2015) featuring Kamal Haasan. [6] [7]

Post the success of both films, Roshan Basheer appeared in further lead role in films including Kubera Rashi [8] [9] and Moondru Rasigargal. He is still pursuing mobies in the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movie industries. [10]

Drishyam (transl. Visual) is a 2013 Indian Malayalam-language crime thriller film written and directed by Jeethu Joseph. It stars Mohanlal alongside Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Roshan Basheer and Neeraj Madhav. The film was produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas. The film follows the struggle of Georgekutty and his family, who come under suspicion when Varun Prabhakar, the son of the IG Geetha Prabhakar, goes missing. A sequel titled Drishyam 2 was released in 2021.

<i>Drushyam</i> 2014 film by Sripriya

Drushyam (transl. Visual) is a 2014 Indian Telugu-language crime thriller film directed by Sripriya and jointly produced by D. Suresh Babu and Rajkumar Sethupathi. It is a remake of Jeethu Joseph's 2013 Malayalam film Drishyam and features Venkatesh, Meena, Esther Anil and Kruthika Jayakumar. Venkatesh and Kruthika plays the respective roles of Mohanlal and Ansiba Hasan in the original whereas Meena and Esther reprises their roles from the original film. The film tells the story of Rambabu, a middle-class cable TV operator, and his family. They come under suspicion when Varun, the son of the Inspector-general of police (IG), goes missing soon after harassing Rambabu's daughter. The rest of the film reveals how Varun disappeared and what Rambabu does to keep his family from going to prison.

Esther has won Kerala Film Critics Association Awards for the Best Child Artist in 2016.
