Roy Emerson Arena is a tennis stadium located in Gstaad, Switzerland. The stadium is the centerpiece of the Suisse Open Gstaad, an ATP Tour event. The stadium has a capacity of 4,500 spectators. It is named in honor of Roy Emerson, 12-time Grand Slam champion, and five-time winner of the Gstaad tournament. [1]
Roy Stanley Emerson is an Australian former tennis player who won 12 Grand Slam singles titles and 16 Grand Slam doubles titles, for a total of 28 Grand Slam titles. He is the only male player to have completed a career Grand Slam in both singles and doubles, and the first of three male players to complete a double career Grand Slam in singles. His 28 major titles are the all-time record for a male player. In 1964, 1965, and 1967 he was ranked world No. 1 amateur.
