Janata Dal (United) abbreviated as JD(U) is an Indian political party with political presence mainly in eastern and north-eastern India. JD(U) is recognised as a state party in the states of Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh and is a part of government in Bihar. JD(U) heads the government in Bihar and has remained the second largest party in Arunachal Pradesh. JD(U) won 16 seats in the 2019 Indian general election,making it the seventh largest party in the Lok Sabha. The party operates on the ideologies of socialism,secularism and integral humanism.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal is an Indian socialist political party,based in the states of Bihar,Kerala and Jharkhand. The party was founded in 1997 by Lalu Prasad Yadav.

It was reduced to 318 during the second General Elections. In 1977,the total number of elected members of the Bihar Legislative Assembly was further raised from 318 to 325. With the creation of a separate State of Jharkhand,by an Act of Parliament titled as the Bihar Reorganisation Act,the strength of the Bihar Legislative Assembly was reduced from 325 to 243 members. Among 243 seats 38 are Scheduled Castes and 2 are Scheduled Tribes reserved seats.
Litterateur and parliamentarian Shankar Dayal Singh was twice elected to the Parliament of India. He was one of the youngest members of the Fifth Lok Sabha,in which he represented the Chatra parliamentary constituency in Bihar. Contesting his maiden Lok Sabha election in 1971,he defeated Smt. Vijaya Raje,the wife of Sri Kamakhya Narayan Singh,Raja of Ramgarh. He was again elected to the upper house,the Rajya Sabha,in 1990 from Bihar.
Dinesh Kumar Mani is a philanthropist and medical researcher and practitioner in the field of alternative medicine,known for his contributions in the treatment of cancer. He and Sant Prasad founded the first bonded laboratory in Bihar to do research in alternative medicines. He is also the founder and director of the Rural Health Organization,which works to improve health conditions of people living in the countryside and organizes camps for free treatment of patients. He is the author of many books on cancer and healthy lifestyles. He was one of the medical advisers to V. P. Singh during the year 1994,while the former Prime Minister was suffering from blood cancer.
Gulam Rasool Balyawi a politician from Janata Dal (United) party,was a Member of the Parliament of India representing Bihar in the Rajya Sabha,the upper house of the Parliament.
