Rukku Priya Nahar (born 28 February 1996) [2] is a British actress, known for her roles as Selina Khan on the CBBC series Wolfblood and Habiba Ahmed on the BBC soap opera EastEnders . [3]

Early life

Nahar was born on 28 February 1996 in Bedford, England. [4] Nahar is British of Indian-Punjabi descent. [5] [6] Whilst growing up, Nahar attended Hastingsbury Upper School, and later trained at the Identity School of Acting. [7]

Career

In 2014, Nahar made her professional acting debut in an episode of the YouTube comedy series Corner Shop Show , as Meena. [3] In 2016, she began portraying the role of Selina Khan in the CBBC drama series Wolfblood , a role she played for two series. [8] Later in 2016, she appeared in an episode of the BBC medical drama Casualty . [9] In 2017, she made her film debut in the adventure film We Can Be Heroes, as Zara Muhammed. [10] [11] In 2018, Nahar made an appearance in an episode of the BBC soap opera Doctors as Rana Khan. [12] Later that year, she starred in nine episodes of the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks , as Asha Kaur. [9]

In February 2019, Nahar began appearing in the BBC soap opera EastEnders as series regular Habiba Ahmed. [4] On 22 October 2020, Nahar made her final appearance as Habiba in previously unannounced scenes. [13] Nahar confirmed her exit on Instagram, where she thanked EastEnders for teaching her "so much" during her tenure, and stated that she was "grateful" for the friendships she made on the programme. [14] Following her exit, she appeared in two episodes of the BBC iPlayer series Flatmates , as well as featuring in an episode of the ITV series The Good Karma Hospital . [15]

<i>Wolfblood</i> British television series

Wolfblood is a fantasy teen drama television series. Created by Debbie Moon, it is a co-production between CBBC and ZDF/ZDFE. The television series revolves around the life of the species known as wolfbloods. They are creatures that have enhanced senses and look like humans but can turn into wolves at will — reminiscent of werewolves — but can also control their transformation during the day as well. They are distinct from werewolves but just like werewolves, their transformation is uncontrolled during a full moon, and they are at their weakest during "the dark of the moon", at a new moon. The television series focuses on their daily life and the challenges that they face to hide their secret. Each series has new characters and concepts.

Iqra Ahmed is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Priya Davdra. Davdra's casting as Iqra was announced on 20 December 2018, along with that of Habiba. Both characters were called feisty and the BBC stated that they would both make an impact on Walford. Iqra is the elder sister of Habiba, and is described as "no-nonsense, bold and intelligent". Iqra makes her first appearance in episode 5871, originally broadcast on 19 February 2019. Alongside sister Habiba Ahmed, Iqra is introduced as a relative of established character Masood Ahmed. Iqra's final appearance aired on 3 January 2022.

Suzette Llewellyn is an English actress, known for her roles as Sister Cheryl Patching on Surgical Spirit, Estelle Vere on Doctors and Sheree Trueman on EastEnders from 2019 to 2021. During the 2020 lockdown she co-edited Still Breathing, 100 Black Voices on Racism, 100 Ways to Change the Narrative with fellow actor Suzanne Packer. Jags Panesar is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Amar Adatia. Jags was introduced alongside brothers Kheerat Panesar, and Vinny Panesar in episode 6001, broadcast on 4 October 2019. Billed by executive producer Jon Sen to bring "charm and chaos", the trio of brothers were also marked as soap's first Punjabi Sikh family in its history. Sen was also vocal about his eagerness to introduce stories from different cultures through the brothers. Adatia expressed excitement to join the soap as he never expected to be cast on it. Jags's storylines included abducting Lola Pearce, his prior connection to Chantelle Atkins, his romance with Habiba Ahmed, and being framed by his mother Suki Panesar, resulting in his imprisonment.

Priya Davdra is a British actress. She is known for her role as Iqra Ahmed in the BBC soap opera EastEnders (2019–2022), the first Muslim lesbian character to appear on the show. She has since starred in the ITVX horror comedy series Count Abdulla (2023).
