The Communist Party of India is the oldest communist political party in India, one of the eight national parties in the country. The CPI was formed on 26 December 1925 at Kanpur.

She was a minister in the communist-led ministries in Kerala in 1957, 1967, 1980 and 1987. She also became a minister in the Congress-led cabinet from 2001 to 2006. She held the record for the second longest serving MLA in Kerala Legislative Assembly.
P. Krishna Pillai was a communist revolutionary from Kerala, India. He was one of the founding leaders of the Communist Party of India in Kerala, and a poet.

Chandrappan served as Member of the Legislative Assembly of Kerala from 1991 to 1996 representing Chertala.
