Politics of Bangladesh takes place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic republic,whereby the Prime Minister of Bangladesh is the head of government,and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament. The Constitution of Bangladesh was written in 1972 and has undergone seventeen amendments.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a centre-right,political party in Bangladesh and one of the major political parties of Bangladesh. Khaleda Zia is a Bangladeshi politician who served as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh from March 1991 to March 1996,and again from June 2001 to October 2006. She was the first female prime minister of Bangladesh. She is the widow of former President of Bangladesh Ziaur Rahman. She is the chairperson and leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) since 1984,which was founded by her late husband in 1978.
The Jatiya Sangsad,often referred to simply as the Sangsad or JS and also known as the House of the Nation,is the supreme legislative body of Bangladesh. The current parliament of Bangladesh contains 350 seats,including 50 seats reserved exclusively for women. Elected occupants are called Member of Parliament,or MP. The 11th National Parliamentary Election was held on 30 December 2018. Elections to the body are held every five years,unless a parliament is dissolved earlier by the President of Bangladesh.

Moudud Ahmed was a Bangladeshi lawyer and politician. He was a standing committee member of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Ahmed was elected as a Jatiya Sangsad member total five times from Noakhali-1 and Noakhali-5 constituencies.
Amena Begum,a former Member of Parliament of East Pakistan,was a Bangladeshi politician. She was instrumental in campaigning all over East Pakistan for the Six Point program of regional autonomy drafted by the Awami League,and on June 7,1966,organized the general strike along with Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury. This strike was observed throughout the then East Pakistan and was the first major indication that an independent Bangladesh was imminent. She later took over as president of the Jatiya League. She died in Dhaka on 7 April 1989.
Momtaz Begum is a Bangladeshi folk singer and the incumbent Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Manikganj-2 constituency since 2014 and Reserved Women's Seat-21 during 2009–2013. Referred to as "The Music Queen," she has recorded around 700 albums. Some of her notable albums include Return Ticket,Ashol Boithoki,Murshider Talim,and Ronger Bazar.
Ghulam Muhammed Quader,better known as GM Quader,is a Bangladeshi politician and the current chairperson of Jatiya Party. He is the incumbent Jatiya Sangsad member from the Lalmonirhat-3 constituency. He served as the Minister of Commerce and Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism from 2009 to 2014.
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 30 December 2018 to elect 300 directly-elected members of the Jatiya Sangsad. The result was a landslide victory for the Awami League-led Grand Alliance led by Sheikh Hasina.

He served as the Cabinet Minister for Energy during Ershad's regime in the 1980s. He was appointed an advisor to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in November 2013.
Tangail-8 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad of Bangladesh since 2019 by Joaherul Islam of the Awami League.
Sunamganj-3 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad of Bangladesh since 2008 by M. A. Mannan of the Awami League.
Habiganj-1 is a constituency represented in the Jatiya Sangsad of Bangladesh since 2019 by Gazi Mohammad Shahnawaz of the Awami League.
