SCF Architects, formerly Sierra Cardona Ferrer Arquitectos, is a Puerto Rican architecture, interior architecture and space planning firm.

SCF was established in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1984. The firm's name is derived from the surnames of its three founding partners: Luis Sierra AIA, Segundo Cardona FAIA and Alberto Ferrer AIA, all former design professors at the School of Architecture of the University of Puerto Rico. Since its founding, the firm has completed more than 800 design projects in Puerto Rico and abroad. Among the most recent international awards received are the 2017 Public Space Award from the International Union of Architects (UIA), for the Paseo Puerta de Tierra promenade in San Juan, and two awards for the Salvation Army’s Ray & Joan Kroc Community Center in Guayama, Puerto Rico: the 2014 Best Public Building Award from the International Union of Architects (UIA) and the IPC/IAKS (International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities) Distinction for Accessibility. Puerta de Tierra is a subbarrio (subdistrict) occupying the eastern portion of the Islet of San Juan and the barrio of San Juan Antiguo in the municipality of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The name Puerta de Tierra derives from the former eastern gated entrance to the walled city of San Juan where Plaza Colón is today. With a population of 2,924 as of 2010, this is the most populated area of San Juan Antiguo. On October 15, 2019, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places, to be included with the Old San Juan Historic District.

Andrés Mignucci Giannoni FAIA was a Puerto Rican architect and urbanist of Corsican ancestry. His work received recognition for its integration of the disciplines of architecture, urban design and landscape architecture in the creation of public spaces with a sense of place, human scale, and environmental responsibility. In 2005 Andrés Mignucci was elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects. In 2012, he was awarded the Henry Klumb Award by the Puerto Rico College of Architects. In 2019, Mignucci received the Distinguished Professor Award by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, and was named Arts and Literary Arts Scholar in Residence at the Rockefeller Foundation's Bellagio Center in Bellagio, Italy.

The University of Puerto Rico School of Law is a law school in Puerto Rico. It is one of the professional graduate schools of University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus and the only law school in the University of Puerto Rico System. It was founded in 1913 at its present site in Río Piedras, which at the time was an independent municipality and is now part of the City of San Juan. The School of Law has been accredited by the American Bar Association since 1945 and by the Association of American Law Schools since 1948.

Jesús Eduardo Amaral FAIA is a Puerto Rican architect and educator. As partner in the firm Amaral y Morales, he produced some of Puerto Rico's most notable modern architecture primarily from 1950 to 1970. He is the founder and first head of the School of Architecture of the University of Puerto Rico (1966–1969).

Toro y Ferrer was an architectural firm and one of the principal exponents of Puerto Rico's tropical modernism. Founded in 1945 by Osvaldo Toro FAIA (1914–1995), Miguel Ferrer FAIA (1914–2005) and Luis Torregrosa Casellas, the firm designed some of Puerto Rico's most significant modern landmarks. The firm is known for its synthesis of the principles of the Modern Movement adapted to the tropical conditions of the Island. Major works include the Caribe Hilton Hotel (1945), the Aeropuerto Internacional de Isla Verde (1955), the Corte Suprema (1955), the House of Representatives' Annex Buildings (1955) and the Hotel La Concha (1958).

The Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico School of Architecture is an institution of higher learning granting degrees in the field of architecture. It is located in the Ponce Historic Zone, across from Plaza Las Delicias. It was established in 2009. Together with the School of Law, it is one of two semi-autonomous professional colleges of the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico (PCUPR) in the city of Ponce, Puerto Rico. In 2010, the school won an award from the Southern Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce for Valor del Año en Educacion. The school is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). It has a teaching staff of 40 and a student body of 300. The current dean of the school is Luis Badillo Lozano.

Rafael Carmoega Morales (1894–1968) was a Puerto Rican architect from Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. He was the first Puerto Rican to become State Architect, a position within the Department of the Interior which he held from 1921 to 1936. Carmoega was one of the most accomplished Puerto Rican architects of the 20th century.

In 2006 Cardona was elected as Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. In 1992, he was awarded the Henry Klumb Award.

Torcuato José Benjumeda y Laguada was a Spanish architect. A disciple of Torcuato Cayón, he was one of the most important Neoclassical architects in Andalusia, designing several of the most prominent buildings in Cádiz. These include the Royal Prison, the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul and the Ayuntamiento.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">House at Breñas Point</span> Building in Dorado, Puerto Rico

The House at Breñas Point, designed by Segundo Cardona FAIA, was built in 1978 with the original purpose of serving as a week-end home for a family of six: a couple and their four children, on a site shaped like a peninsula on Breñas Beach. This small house, built with modest materials, has endured the wrath of three major hurricanes and several tropical storms and has merged with the landscape while maintaining a distinctive presence within it. Since its construction it has become a landmark and point of reference for locals. It is also considered an architectural landmark for its modern interpretation of a minimal tropical dwelling in modest traditional Puerto Rican construction materials and methods: reinforced concrete and wood.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">City Wall of San Juan</span> Fortification in Puerto Rico

The City Wall of San Juan is a city wall that surrounds the western end of the Islet of San Juan, site of the historic Old San Juan district in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This defensive wall system was built between the 16th and 20th centuries to protect the city and the Bay of San Juan, a highly strategic point in the Caribbean. These walls, along with the defensive fortresses in Old San Juan, form part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site-designated San Juan National Historic Site as they are characteristic examples of the historic methods of construction used in military architecture which adapted European designs and techniques to the special conditions of the Caribbean port cities.
