Ski- og Fotballklubben Trygg was a sports club in Oslo, Norway, which played an important role for bandy in Norway and also was well-known for its ice hockey section.

History

The club was founded in 1907.

The ice hockey team was one of the founding members of the Hovedserien, the top level Norwegian league, for the 1934–35 season. [1] They won the league championship in 1935 and then again in 1938. [2] Their last appearance in the league came during the 1938–39 season.

The bandy section was one of the founding members of Norges Ishockeyforbund in 1920, later renamed the Norway's Bandy Association and still the governing body for bandy in Norway. It won the Norwegian Bandy Premier League in 1921.

The club also consisted of a football department.

The club merged with Mercantile SFK in 1947.

Mjøndalen IF is a Norwegian sports club located in Mjøndalen, Viken, Norway. Of the different athletic endeavours that the club supports, it may be best known in Norway for its bandy national championship teams and internationally for its association football national championship teams that have competed in UEFA championships. Founded in 1910, it has sections for association football, bandy, baseball, cycling, gymnastics, handball, judo and skiing. The club formerly had a section for athletics.

IK Göta is a Swedish sports club, which was very successful in several sports such as track and field, handball, bowling, field hockey, ice hockey, soccer and bandy during the 20th century. Their most famous and successful sport was ice hockey. They won the Swedish ice hockey championship nine times, including the inaugural championship in 1922. The club was also operating bandy teams, both women's and men's, winning the Swedish men's championship in bandy once, in 1927. In women's bandy they were far more successful, winning eight times, the last time in 1984.

Karlis Arvīds Jurgens was a Latvian footballer, ice hockey, basketball and bandy player who play played for Latvia national teams in all four of these sports. He was one of the best all-around Latvian sportsmen.

Ice hockey in the United Kingdom

Ice hockey has been played in the United Kingdom since the beginning of the twentieth century, and it was a game between English Army veterans played in Canada that is the first recorded use of a sawed-off ball, which led to the use of the puck in hockey. The Great Britain men's national ice hockey team enjoyed worldwide success through the 1920s and 1930s, achieving bronze at the 1924 Olympics, and gold twelve years later. They also won medals at the World Championships in 1935, 1937 and 1938, though never won the tournament. The national team has struggled since the Second World War, and has not finished better than twelfth in the World Championships since 1962. Ice hockey is played professionally in the United Kingdom in the Elite Ice Hockey League, a ten team league which was founded in 2003.

Bandy in the United States is played mostly in Minnesota. Bandy is a team sport played on ice. The United States national bandy team has taken part in the Bandy World Championships since the 1985 tournament. It also plays friendlies against Canada. The 1995 Bandy World Championship was played at Guidant John Rose Minnesota Oval.
