SS Hsin Wah,now also known as the SS Xinhua, was a steamship owned by China Merchants Steam Navigation Company,navigating between Canton City,Hong Kong,and Shanghai. She was built in 1921 by Napier &Miller in Glasgow. The ship was seized by pirates of Bias Bay in 1928 and saved by the SS Zhongshan. She sunk in 1929 when grounded on northern rocks of Waglan Island south-east of Hong Kong Island,with a loss of between 300 and 400 lives.

Hai Yung was a protected cruiser of the Imperial Chinese Navy. Hai Yung was one of a class of three ships built in Germany for the Chinese after the losses of the First Sino-Japanese War. The ship was a small protected cruiser with quick-firing guns,a departure from the prewar Chinese navy's emphasis on heavy but slow-firing weapons for its cruisers. Hai Yung resembled the British protected cruisers of the Apollo class and Italian Regioni class,and may have been modeled on the similar Dutch Gelderland-class cruisers. Germany itself would increase the number of similar ships for its own navy starting with the Gazelle class and its faster successors up until World War I.

The Transitional Justice Commission was an independent government agency of the Republic of China (Taiwan) active from 31 May 2018 to 30 May 2022 based on the Act on Promoting Transitional Justice. The commission is responsible for the investigation of actions taken by the Kuomintang between 15 August 1945 and 6 November 1992. The commission's main aims include:making political archives more readily available,removing authoritarian symbols,redressing judicial injustice,and producing a report on the history of the period which delineates steps to further promote transitional justice.
