SS Westernland was an ocean liner launched in 1883 by Red Star Line. It was a steam ship with four masts. [1] She was used for transatlantic crossing between Antwerp and New York City, as well as between Liverpool and Philadelphia. [2] It was built by Laird Brothers, using the largest piston that had ever been made. [1] [3] She was fitted with Scotch marine boilers. [4]
