Saddolls (stylised SadDoLLs) is a Greek gothic metal band formed in 2006 as a cover band. After a few live performances, the band recorded the EP Dead in the Dollhouse in 2007, gaining positive reviews from the press. In April 2008, the band was the support act for Lacrimas Profundere's gig in Athens. [3]
The band has released three full-length albums. The first, About Darkness, was released in Europe by the Greek Label Emotion Art music, the second one, Happy Deathday, was released in January 2012 by the Italian label Lunatic Asylum Records and Twilight worldwide, and the latest, Grave Party, was released worldwide via Inverse Records in April 2014. As of May 2016, the band is under a contract with the German-based label Trisol Music Group.
In June 2008 Saddolls entered the Fragile Studios to record their first full-length album "About Darkness" [4] [5] The self-financed album was mixed and produced by Vangelis Yalamas and mastered by John Petrolias. At the beginning of 2009 the band signed a record deal with the Greek label Emotion Art Music. [6] On the official album release party [7] the first music video for the song "Watch Me Crawl Behind" was aired exclusive. [8] Soon the band started touring around Greece along with TV appearances such as Mad Day Live, Radio Arvyla and TV War. In October 2009 Saddolls opened for Paradise Lost at Gagarin 205 live stage. [9] [10] After the release of their second music video "Misery" [11] directed by Vangelis Yalamas (Fragile Vastness), the band opened for Xandria's show in Athens in 8 May 2010. [12] [13]
After the end of the contract with Emotion Art, the band entered the Soundflakes Studios with producer John Mcris (Anorimoi) to record their second full-length album Happy Deathday. [14] [15] The album contains special featurings with artists from bands such as Jape Perätalo (To/Die/For) Jussi-Mikko Salminen (HIM) Roberth Karlsson (Scar Symmetry) and Morgan Laxroix and Terry Horn from Mandragora Scream. [16] The band then under a contract with the Italian Record label Lunatic Asylum Records (Mandragora Scream) released the album worldwide on 20 January 2012. [17] [18] The band's management in Germany was handled by Silke Ily Sirnio HIM and the first single-video Bloodred. [19] [20] was included in the February issue of Sonic Seducer compilation cd Cold Hands Seduction Vol.128 [21] [22] The band then opened once again for Lacrimas Profundere on their show in Athens on 7 April 2012; [23] [24] in September the band was the support act for Moonspell's gigs in Athens and Thessaloniki. [25] [26] [27] [28] SadDoLLs then shot the video for the next single called Psychedelic Love that featured Robeth Karlsson from the Swedish band (Scar Symmetry). [29] [30] The band played in an anniversary party, for the Greek HIM fan club, Darksecret Club. The setlist consisted only by HIM covers and the show featured Jussi-Mikko Salminen former HIM keyboarder. The event took place on 24 November 2012 [31] [32] [33]
In February 2013 SadDoLLs released the last single and video from the "Happy Deathday" album called Criminal Of Love. [34] [35] After that the band started the pre-production of the new album, later to be titled "Grave Party". After the recordings were finished the band ended their collaboration with the Italian Lunatic Asylum and signed a deal with the Finnish Inverse Records [36] On December the 25th the band performed at the Dark Storm Festival 2013 in Chemnitz, Germany along with VNV Nation, Blutengel, Gothminister, Mono Inc., Solar Fake, Agonoize among others. [37] The band then signed a contract with the German Promotion and Management company Absolut Promotion [38] and the new album and new single called "Lady Cry" was well received from the German Media [39] The new album was released worldwide on May the 2nd through an official release live show [40] and it features Skinny Disco from the Swedish band Deathstars performing on the song called "Terminate Me" [41] The band then was booked to open for the Finnish goth rockers The 69 Eyes in Tallinn, Estonia at the Rock Cafe club on 12 April 2014 with a special featuring of Esa Viren from the Finnish goth metal band To/Die/For as their bass player. [42] [43] The band opened for the Gothic Rock band Star Industry in Athens, [44] and their first single "Lady Cry" was included once again in the Sonic Seducer's compilation CD "Cold Hands Seduction Vol.154". [45] In October, the band released a music video for their single "Terminate me" that features Skinny Disco from Deathstars. [46]
The band is now working on a new album called Blood of a Kind. It will feature some special guests such as Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto (from Charon (Band), Northern Kings, Harmaja, and Dark Sarah, as well as the first Poisonblack album), and Mikki Chixx from Swiss band Stoneman. The album will be released physically and digitally (along with all the band's previous releases) by the German label Trisol Music Group. [47] [48]
Reel Big Fish is an American ska punk band from Huntington Beach, California. The band gained mainstream recognition in the mid-to-late 1990s during the third wave of ska with the release of the gold-certified album Turn the Radio Off. Soon after, the band lost mainstream recognition but gained an underground cult following. As of 2006, the band was no longer signed to a major record label and has since been independent. After numerous line-up changes, frontman Aaron Barrett is the last remaining founding member still performing in the band.
Lacuna Coil is an Italian gothic metal band from Milan. Since their formation in 1994, the group has had two name changes, being previously known as Sleep of Right and Ethereal, and they have recorded nine studio albums, two extended plays, two live albums, two compilation albums, one video album, and sixteen singles and music videos.
Moonspell is a Portuguese gothic metal band formed in 1992. The group released their first EP, Under the Moonspell, in 1994 and followed up with their debut album, Wolfheart, a year later. They quickly became the most recognizable metal band from Portugal and a key figure in gothic metal. Fernando Ribeiro is co-founder, singer and songwriter of the band.
The M'era Luna is a gothic festival that encompasses a number of different styles such as metal, future pop, aggrotech, synthpop, gothic rock, dark wave, and ebm. It is held annually on the second weekend of every August, in Hildesheim, Germany at Flugplatz Hildesheim-Drispenstedt, a former British Army airbase.
Lacrimas Profundere is a gothic metal band from Germany. Their name means "to shed tears" in Latin. Their stylistic aesthetic has changed over time; originally a gothic death-doom band, they have simplified their style to a more mainstream gothic rock/metal style with more influences from bands such as HIM, The 69 Eyes, before returning to their heavier gothic doom roots on their 2019 album Bleeding the Stars.
The National is an American rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio, formed in Brooklyn, New York City in 1999. The band consists of Matt Berninger (vocals), twin brothers Aaron Dessner and Bryce Dessner, as well as brothers Scott Devendorf (bass) and Bryan Devendorf (drums). Carin Besser, the wife of Matt Berninger, is not a band member but has written lyrics for the band alongside her husband since its 2007 album Boxer.
John Fryer is an English record producer. Best known for his production work, he has also performed as a musician, as one of the two constant members of This Mortal Coil, providing keyboards, strings and synthesizer sequencing for the band, and its offshoot, The Hope Blister.
Napalm Records is an Austrian independent record label focused on heavy metal, hard rock and folk/folk rock/folk metal. Originally, Napalm focused on black metal bands, such as Abigor and Summoning, and folk metal bands, such as Falkenbach and Vintersorg. The label later expanded its roster by adding gothic metal, symphonic metal, power metal, doom metal, metalcore and nu metal bands, as well as stoner rock acts Monster Magnet, Karma to Burn, and Brant Bjork, and even folk bands like Ye Banished Privateers. Napalm has its own publishing house named Iron Avantgarde Publishing.
Filthy Notes for Frozen Hearts is the seventh album by the German band Lacrimas Profundere. A video clip was released for the song "Again It's Over" and "My Velvet Little Darkness". "Again It's Over" was released on its own single prior to Filthy Notes For Frozen Hearts. An acoustic version of "Filthy Notes" was made available for preorders from Amazon.
Christopher Schmid is the baritone ex-vocalist of the German gothic doom band Lacrimas Profundere. Christopher left the band April 4, 2007 due to prolonged stress from touring with the band. He has, however, been seen at shows with the band, singing for songs such as "Without", which originally appeared on "Burning, A Wish." He has also remained as the band's lyricist, and has done backing vocals, and has been renowned for his poetic, dark style, exercised in all albums, even with the dawn of their gothic rock/metal sound.
MGMT is an American indie rock band formed in 2002 in Middletown, Connecticut. It was founded by singers and multi-instrumentalists Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser. Alongside VanWyngarden and Goldwasser, MGMT's live lineup currently consists of drummer Will Berman, bassist Simon O'Connor, and guitarist and keyboard James Richardson.
The Twilight Sad are a Scottish post-punk/indie rock band, comprising James Graham (vocals), Andy MacFarlane (guitar), Johnny Docherty (bass), Brendan Smith (keyboards) and Grant Hutchison (drums). They have released five studio albums, as well as several EPs, live recordings and singles. Their 2007 debut album, Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters, drew widespread acclaim from critics, who noted Graham's thick Scottish accent and MacFarlane's dense sonic walls of shoegazing guitar and wheezing accordion. The Twilight Sad's notoriously loud live performances have been described as "completely ear-splitting", and the band toured for the album across Europe and the United States throughout 2007 and 2008. Sessions inspired by stripped-down and reworked live performances yielded the 2008 mini-album, Here, It Never Snowed. Afterwards It Did.
Powerwolf, often stylized as POWERWOLF, is a German power metal band founded in 2003 in Saarbrücken by members of Red Aim. The band consists of vocalist Karsten Brill as "Attila Dorn", lead guitarist Benjamin Buss as "Matthew Greywolf", bassist/rhythm guitarist David Vogt as "Charles Greywolf", keyboardist Christian Jost as "Falk Maria Schlegel" and drummer Roel van Helden. The group uses religious themes and images, contrary to traditional power metal music, as well as corpse paint, gothic-tinged compositions and songs about werewolf and vampire legends.
Songs for the Last View is the eighth album by Lacrimas Profundere, which was released on 27 June 2008 in mainland Europe, with a US/Canada release on 15 July.
Cold Cave is the solo project for musician Wesley Eisold, described as a "collage of darkwave, noise, and synthpop." A number of reviewers note the affinity with early 1980s post-punk and early synthpop, in particular Joy Division and New Order.

Gabrielle Ann Aplin is an English singer-songwriter. After amassing a following for her acoustic music covers on YouTube, Aplin signed a recording deal with Parlophone in February 2012. She rose to prominence the following November when she was selected to record the soundtrack for a John Lewis television commercial with a cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "The Power of Love", which went on to top the UK Singles Chart.
Hands Like Houses are an Australian rock band from Canberra. Formed in 2008, the group is currently signed to Hopeless Records and UNFD. Their debut album, Ground Dweller, was released on 13 March 2012, charting at number 141 on the Billboard 200 and number 2 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. Their second album, Unimagine, was released on 23 July 2013, during their route on Warped Tour. The band's third album, Dissonants was released on 26 February 2016, followed by their fourth, Anon, on 12 October 2018.
Happy Deathday is the second album of the Greek metal band Saddolls. This album was the band's first major opening in the European countries when the first single Bloodred was included at Sonic Seducer's compilation album Cold Hands Seduction Vol.128. The album also features some guest musicians from bands such as HIM To/Die/For Scar Symmetry Mandragora Scream and Seduce The Heaven.
Grave Party is the third album of the Greek metal band Saddolls. This album features a major change in the band's sound, combining elements of Darkwave ebm with industrial metal. It also features a collaboration with Skinny Disco from the Swedish band Deathstars for the single Terminate me. The first single Lady Cry was also included at Sonic Seducer's compilation album Cold Hands Seduction Vol.254 that sold more than 60.000 copies in Germany.
