Sahil Kapur is a political journalist and reporter who is the senior national political reporter at NBC News. He covers Capitol Hill, elections, politics and public policies in Washington, D.C. He mostly writes on the network's website, NBCNews.com and appears regularly on NBC News Now. He previously worked at Bloomberg News and reported a variety of politics and policy issues. [1]
Born in 1986 at Houston, Texas, Kapur attended Claremont McKenna College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in economics and government in 2009. [2]
He began his career as an editorial intern at HuffPost (formerly The Huffington Post) until August 2009 and started freelancing for several media outlets while he was based in Washington, D.C. such as The Guardian , The Washington Independent , and The New Republic . [3]
After working at multiple publications especially at TPM Media LLC as a congressional reporter which became a breakthrough point in his career, Kapur was hired at Bloomberg News in 2015 and became its national political reporter in its politics section and was based back in Washington, D.C. reporting from Capitol Hill. Since then, he provided numerous reports and insights often appearing on MSNBC, CNN, CBS, PBS, NPR among others.
