Sakuntala Laguri is an Indian politician. She is elected to the 16th Lok Sabha in 2014 from Keonjhar constituency in Odisha. [1] She is a member of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) political party.
The Biju Janata Dal is an Indian regional political party with great influence in the state of Odisha. It was founded by the former minister of mines and minerals of the Republic of India Naveen Patnaik on 26 December 1997 as a breakaway faction from the Janata Dal. The BJD is led by its founder as president of the party. The headquarters of the party is located in Forest Park,Bhubaneswar.
Naveen Patnaik is an Indian politician and writer serving as the current and 14th Chief Minister of Odisha representing the Hinjili Assembly constituency since 2000. He is also the 1st president of the Biju Janata Dal since 1997. He is the longest-serving chief minister of Odisha and as of 2023,one of the longest-serving chief ministers of any Indian state,holding the post for over two decades,and only the third Indian chief Minister after Pawan Chamling and Jyoti Basu to win five consecutive terms as Chief Minister of an Indian state.He was also the Union Minister of Steel and Mines from 1998 to 2000 and a member of the Lok Sabha from Aska from 1997 to 2000.
Bijayananda Patnaik was an Indian politician,aviator and businessman. He served as the 3rd Chief Minister of the State of Odisha from 1990 to 1995 and from 1961 to 1963. He was also the 14th Steel and mines and 1st Coal Union Minister of India from 1979 to 1980 and from 1977 to 1979 and a member of Lok Sabha from Kendrapara from 1977 to 1985. He was the father of Naveen Patnaik,who was the current CM of Odisha and currently the longest serving CM of Odisha.

She defeated her opponent,Palla Srinivasa Rao of the Telugu Desam Party,by a margin of nearly 60,000 votes. She was made the Minister of State in the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2009 and subsequently the MoS in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in 2012. She had previously represented the Bapatla constituency in the 14th Lok Sabha on behalf of the Indian National Congress,beating D. Ramanaidu of the Telugu Desam Party by almost 90,000 votes. During that term she served as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Human Resource Development. She joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on 7 March 2014 after resigning from the Indian National Congress as a mark of protest against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh that was favoured by the then United Progressive Alliance government. In 2014,she fought the Lok Sabha election on a BJP ticket from Rajampet and lost. Purandareswari was appointed BJP Mahila Morcha Prabhari. She continues as the appointed state in-charge of the Bharatiya Janata Party,Odisha unit since 13 November 2020.

Dr Rajashree Mallick is an Indian politician. She was elected to the Lok Sabha,lower house of the Parliament of India from Jagatsinghpur,Odisha in the 2019 Indian general election as a member of the Biju Janata Dal. She was earlier elected to the Legislative Assembly of Odisha from Tirtol in 2014.
