Salem Community Markets (SCM), formerly known as Salem Saturday Market (SSM), is a nonprofit organization which operates multiple farmers' markets and related events in Salem, Oregon. As of the2023 season, there are four main markets: the Monday Hospital Market, the Wednesday Chemeketa Market, the Thursday West Salem Market, and the traditional Salem Saturday Market. There is also a three-day Salem Holiday Market event in December. [1]

History

2018 season

The 2018 season lasted from April 14th to October 4th. This was shorter than initially planned; the opening was postponed and the planned last market date was cancelled, both due to weather concerns. [2] [3]

2018 marked the 20-year anniversary of the Salem Saturday Market and a celebration was held at the market on May 5th.

The year also saw a new market added to the calendar: the West Salem Thursday Market, open every Thursday from 10am to 2pm, July 5th through September 27th. Now there were five SCM-run markers in Salem (including the Holiday Market), and shoppers could find a local market four days out of every week during the peak months. [4]

A new market match EBT program was also introduced in 2018. [5]

2023 season

2023 marked the 25th anniversary of the Salem Saturday Market. That year, the main market took place at the usual spot every Saturday from March 4th to October 28th, from 9am to 2pm local time.[ citation needed ]

2024 season

The 2024 season is the 26th Season of the Salem Saturday Market which takes place at the State of Oregon Green Lot located on the corner of Summer & Marion Streets. It had 591 total vendors in the season throughout its 4 markets.[ citation needed ]

In their first and only season under head coach Hiland Orlando Stickney, the Aggies compiled a 3–2 record and outscored their opponents by a combined total of 76 to 60. The Aggies lost to Oregon, 38–0. Fred Walters was the team captain.

The 1895 Oregon Agricultural Aggies football team represented Oregon Agricultural College during the 1895 college football season. The team was a member of the Oregon Intercollegiate Football Association. In their first and only year under head coach Paul Downing, the Aggies compiled a 0–2–1 record and were outscored by their opponents by a combined total of 82 to 6.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">General Duffy's Waterhole</span> Taphouse and event venue in Redmond, Oregon, US

General Duffy's Waterhole is a beer and cider taphouse with a food court and two large events venues located in Redmond, Oregon. It opened for business in 2019. Shortly after opening, Duffy's began hosting weekly street markets next to the taphouse. Later that year, General Duffy's was recognized with two awards: one for improving the city's downtown economy, and the other as Redmond's "New Business of the Year". During the coronavirus pandemic, the business survived a period of carry-out only customer service and other mandated restrictions. Duffy's owners used that time to develop The Angle, an outdoor music and events venue with space for up to 2,500 attendees. In late 2021, General Duffy's opened a large special events hall on an adjacent property; Duffy's Annex provides indoor space for music programs and other events year-round.
