Salina Fisher (born 6 October 1993) is a New Zealand composer and violinist currently based in Wellington.

Fisher graduated from the New Zealand School of Music and then studied for a Master of Music in Composition at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. [1] In 2014 Fisher's work Blushing Skies received the Orchestra's Choice Award. [2] She is the youngest-ever winner of the SOUNZ Contemporary Award for her orchestral work Rainphase, subsequently winning in 2017 for her string quartet Tōrino. [3] Tōrino was selected to represent New Zealand at the ISCM World Music Days in Vancouver, BC, Canada and was performed there in November 2017. by the Emily Carr String Quartet. [4] [5] She was awarded a Fulbright New Zealand General Graduate Award. [6] She is the recipient of the New Generation Award. [7]

The Mozart Fellowship is a composer residency attached to the Music Department of the University of Otago, one of the five Arts Fellowships at the university. It is the oldest full-time composition residency in New Zealand, and is currently the only position of its kind; the list of past fellows includes many of New Zealand's most notable composers. In 2013, Martin Lodge, Associate Professor and Convenor of the Waikato University Music Programme described the Mozart Fellowship as "New Zealand's premiere composer residency, being the longest established, best paid and most prestigious with the list of past Fellows a veritable who's who of New Zealand composers".

Kenneth Young is a composer, conductor, radio presenter and lecturer in composition, conducting and orchestration at the New Zealand School of Music, Massey University and Victoria University of Wellington. As a composer, Young has had works commissioned by New Zealand and Australian orchestras and arts organisations including the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra New Zealand International Arts Festival and Chamber Music New Zealand. He works as a freelance composer and is fully represented by SOUNZ: The Centre for New Zealand Music. In 1976, Young became the principal tuba for the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and first conducted the orchestra in 1985 becoming Conductor in Residence in 1993. In 2001, he resigned from the orchestra to become a full-time conductor, composer and recording artist for orchestras in New Zealand and Australia, as well as engagements in Japan and the United Kingdom. He is well known for his interpretation of Romantic, 20th Century, New Zealand and Australian orchestral repertoire and in 2012 conducted both the winning album, Angel at Ahipara and finalist album, Releasing the Angel, for Best Classical Album at the New Zealand Music Awards. Young has been recorded by EMI, Atoll Records, Continuum, Trust Records, ABC Classics and Naxos and is a frequent presenter on RESOUND, Radio New Zealand Concert introducing and contextualising work from the RNZ archives. The APRA Music Awards are several annual and two-yearly award ceremonies run in New Zealand by Australasian Performing Right Association to recognise songwriting skills, sales and airplay performance by its members. APRA hold the annual Silver Scroll Awards and song awards, selects an inductee into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame, and makes three professional development awards every second year. APRA also runs awards for its Australian members.

The Philip Neill Memorial Prize is an annual prize administered by the University of Otago for excellence in original composition. The award is open to all past and present students of a university in New Zealand, except previous winners who are excluded for a period of five years.

Leonie Joyce Holmes is a New Zealand composer and lecturer at the University of Auckland with an interest in music education.

Ariana Rahera Tikao is a New Zealand singer, musician and author. Her works explore her identity as a Kāi Tahu woman and her music often utilises taonga pūoro. Notably, she co-composed the first concerto for taonga pūoro in 2015. She has released three solo albums and collaborated with a number of other musicians. She was a recipient of an Arts Foundation Laureate Award in 2020.
