Salindh is a small village, which borders the town of Safipur in the Unnao district (located between Lucknow and Kanpur), of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. [1]

Location

The village of Salindh is seventeen kilometres (just under 11 miles) from Unnao district and one kilometre (0.6 miles) from Safipur. [ clarification needed ]

The main economic occupation is agriculture, which contributes to the mango plantation.[ clarification needed ]

Festivals

Annual ‘gagar’, Saint Makhdoom Saheb anniversary, festival is the only activity for youths.[ citation needed ]

Demographics

The demographic groups that live in Salindh are Chamars, Ahirs, Nai, Telis, Kurmis, and Muslims. There is only one Bania family, the "Shankars", they mainly reside in the east side of Salindh.

In the mid-20th century, poverty and pressure on land drove a few people to migrate to Lucknow, Kanpur, Unnao, Bombay, and even some foreign countries.
