Sallie Alcorn is an American politician who has held political office as an at-large council member in the City of Houston,Texas since 2020. Alcorn collected 22.8% of the votes in the November 5,2019 general election, [1] which triggered a runoff. She won her runoff election [2] on December 14,2019 with 52.8% (90,235) of the vote. Although Houston City Council had previously held a female majority from 2006-2007,Alcorn will be serving with the largest number of female council members elected to office at one time in council history after the District B election is settled.
Alcorn (nee Comstock) was born in North Carolina and moved to Houston when she was in the seventh grade,later graduating from Westchester High School. She received a BBA in finance from the University of Texas at Austin and an MA in Public Administration from the University of Houston.
Alcorn’s first run for public office was in 2019. She accumulated the largest number of votes in a 9-person race which secured her seat a runoff against Eric Dick,which Alcorn won.
Since being elected to office,Sallie has focused on facilitating shared services [3] between the City of Houston and Harris County,increasing transparency and community engagement surrounding the municipal budget,and focusing on ensuring the City of Houston prioritizes smart fiscal policies. Most recently,through unanimous approval of Council,Sallie passed an amendment that prioritizes identifying areas in which the City of Houston and Harris County governments can increase cooperation and streamline efforts,reducing the cost of operations and improving services to the residents of Houston and Harris County.

She is married to George Alcorn with 4 children,and is a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.

Texan voters chose 38 electors to represent them in the Electoral College. In a popular vote the Republican Party's nominee,incumbent President Donald Trump,and running mate Vice President Mike Pence won all the electors against the Democratic Party's nominee,former Vice President Joe Biden,and his running mate California Senator Kamala Harris.
Mattie Parker is an American attorney,business owner and politician serving as the 45th Mayor of Fort Worth,Texas. She was elected in 2021 after serving as Chief of Staff for the Mayor and the Fort Worth City Council for five years. She is one of the youngest mayors of a major American city in U.S. history. After coming in second place in the first round of voting in May,Parker faced off against Deborah Peoples,the Tarrant County Democratic Party chair,in the run-off election on June 5,2021. Parker received 53.5% of the vote in the nominally non-partisan election.
The 2022 Tulsa municipal elections were held on August 23,2022. A top two runoff election was scheduled for November 8 if no candidate receives a majority vote. All nine city council seats and the city auditor are elected to two year terms. The filing period was June 13–15. Incumbent Mayor G.T. Bynum is not up for reelection until 2024. All nine city council seats will have contested elections. City Auditor Cathy Carter was re-elected without opposition.
