Nordland is a county in Norway in the Northern Norway region, bordering Troms in the north, Trøndelag in the south, Norrbotten County in Sweden to the east, Västerbotten County to the southeast, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. The county was formerly known as Nordlandene amt. The county administration is in Bodø. The remote Arctic island of Jan Mayen has been administered from Nordland since 1995.

Salten is a traditional district in Nordland county, Norway. It includes the municipalities of Meløy, Gildeskål, Bodø, Beiarn, Saltdal, Fauske, Sørfold, Steigen, and Hamarøy. Salten covers an area of about 9,354 square kilometres (3,612 sq mi) and has a population (2016) of about 73,375 people.
The Saltstraumen Bridge is a cantilever box girder bridge that crosses the Saltstraumen strait between the islands of Knaplundsøya and Straumøya in Bodø Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The bridge is about 7 kilometres (4.3 mi) across the Saltfjorden from the town of Bodø.
Vestfjord or Vestfjorden is a 155-kilometre (96 mi) long sea in Nordland county, Norway.
Bodin is a parish and former municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The 672-square-kilometre (259 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1968. It was a large municipality encompassing all of the mainland area around the town of Bodø and part of the land on the southern shore of the Saltfjorden. The municipality also included over 100 square kilometres (39 sq mi) of islands, notably the islands of Helligvær, Landegode, Bliksvær, and Givær plus numerous others. In all there were over 700 islands, islets, and skerries in Bodin Municipality. All of what was Bodin Municipality now lies entirely inside the present-day Bodø Municipality.
Sandhornøya or Sandhornøy is a mountainous island in the municipality of Gildeskål in Nordland county, Norway. The 103-square-kilometre (40 sq mi) island is located south of the town of Bodø near the entrance to the Saltfjorden. The mainland of Norway lies to the east and the islands of Fleina, Sørarnøya, and Nordarnøya lie to the west. The villages of Lekanger, Mårnes, and Våg are located on the island. The island is connected to the mainland by the Sandhornøy Bridge. Sandhornøy is also the birthplace of famous Norwegian professor and hymn writer, Elias Blix. A memorial monument of Blix can be seen by the coastline.
The Folda or Folla is a fjord in Nordland county, Norway. The fjord is located in the municipalities of Bodø, Steigen, and Sørfold. The Folda empties into the Vestfjorden about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northeast of the town of Bodø. The fjord is about 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) wide in the west where it joins the Vestfjorden between the Kjerringøy and Leiranger peninsulas.

Sjunkhatten National Park was established in 2010 in Nordland county, Norway. The park consists of a 417.5-square-kilometre (161.2 sq mi) continuously protected area, including 39.8-square-kilometre (15.4 sq mi) sea area in the municipalities of Bodø, Fauske, and Sørfold. The park is located on a peninsula between the Sørfolda fjord and Saltfjorden, including glacier-formed landscape, caves and water systems, fjords, the large lake Heggmovatnet, rare animal species, and cultural heritage.
Straumøya is an island in the municipality of Bodø in Nordland county, Norway. The 29.7-square-kilometre (11.5 sq mi) island is located on the south side of the Saltfjorden, just east of the Saltstraumen strait. The island is connected to the mainland by the Indre Sunnan Bridge and to the nearby Knaplundsøya island by the Saltstraumen Bridge, both bridges are a part of Norwegian County Road 17. In 2016, the island had 278 residents.
Eidsfjorden is a fjord in Nordland county, Norway. The 25-kilometre (16 mi) long fjord cuts into the island of Langøya in the Vesterålen archipelago and it is located in the municipalities of Bø, Hadsel, and Sortland. It branches off of the main Vesterålsfjorden which is part of Norwegian Sea. The innermost part of the fjord is part of Sortland Municipality. The outer part of the fjord is split with the western coast belonging to Bø Municipality and the eastern coast belonging to Hadsel Municipality.
Gavlfjorden is a fjord in Nordland county, Norway. The 20-kilometre (12 mi) long fjord separates the large islands of Langøya and Andøya in the Vesterålen archipelago and it runs along the border of three municipalities: Øksnes, Andøy, and Sortland. In the north, the fjord flows out into the Norwegian Sea, and in the south, the fjord splits into the Sortlandssundet strait and the Risøysundet strait.
Bodø or Bådåddjo (Lule Sami) is a town in Bodø Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The town the administrative centre of Bodø Municipality and of Nordland county. It is located on the Bodø peninsula between the Vestfjorden and the Saltfjorden. Bodø is located just north of the Arctic Circle. It is the largest urban area and town in Nordland county and it is the second-largest town in North Norway.
Kjerringøy is a former municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The 176-square-kilometre (68 sq mi) municipality existed from 1906 until its dissolution in 1964. The municipality included the coastal and island areas around the entrance to the Folda fjord, plus the northern coast of the Mistfjorden to the south of the Folda fjord. About 400 small islands totaling about 11 square kilometres (4.2 sq mi) were part of the municipality. The areas are located in what is now Bodø Municipality and a small part in Steigen Municipality. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Kjerringøy where Kjerringøy Church is located.
Knaplundsøya or Godøya is an island in Bodø Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The 6.6-square-kilometre (2.5 sq mi) island lies just southeast of the town of Bodø, between the Saltfjorden and the Skjerstadfjorden. The island is connected to the mainland and the to the neighboring island of Straumøya by the Norwegian County Road 17. The Saltstraumen strait and its famous maelstrom are located between Straumøya and Knaplundsøya. The island had 392 residents in 2016, mostly living on the north and west shores of the island.
