Salute is a 2016 Pakistani biographical film directed, written & produced by Shahzad Rafique. The film is based on the life of martyr Aitzaz Hasan [2] [3] who confronted a suicide bomber, preventing his attempt to detonate a bomb in his school, saving roughly 2000 lives. [4] The film stars Ali Mohtesham, Ajab Gul and Saima Noor in leading roles.

Contents

The film was distributed by IMGC Global Entertainment and released nationwide on 2 December 2016. [5] The film received positive reviews from critics but was a box-office failure. [6]

Plot

The film details the life of Shaheed Aitzaz Hasan Bangash, a school boy from Hangu, Pakistan; who, on 6 January 2014 confronted a suicide bomber outside his school. He prevented the terrorist from causing more casualties in the explosion and saved 2,000 lives. [7]

Production

On the first anniversary of Aitzaz Hassan's death at the Lahore's Alhamra Arts Complex, Shahzad announced that he would make a film titled 'Salute' which would be a biopic of Aitzaz life. [8] Saima Noor and Ajab Gul were cast in lead roles and would play the role of Atizaz's parents. Shahzad confirmed that the film's Post-production would be done in state of the art studios in the United States and Bangkok. [9] The TV rights for the film are owned by Urdu 1. [10]

Filming

Due to security issues and the nature of the film, the Director Shahzad was unable to shoot the film in the Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Instead, the major parts of the film were shot in Azad Kashmir in Mirpur and Kotli. [7]

Release

The film was originally slated for a May 2015 release [11] but was postponed to 23 March 2016. For unexplained reasons, the film was pushed back once more to 5 August 2016, but was later pushed further back. [12] A teaser for the film was released online on 11 Aug 2016. [13] A theatrical trailer of film was released on 7 September 2016. [14] IMGC Distribution Club distributed the Film in Pakistan nationwide on 2 December 2016. Aitzaz Hasan Bangash was a Pakistani student who died on 6 January 2014 while preventing a suicide bomber from entering a school at Hangu village. More than 2,000 students were attending classes at the time of the incident. The institute was later renamed to Aitzaz Hasan Shaheed High School. His death anniversary is observed annually throughout Pakistan on 6 January. His life is covered by the biographical film Salute.

Saima Noor is a Pakistani actress who has appeared in Punjabi and Urdu films and Pakistani dramas. After making her film debut with Khatarnaak 1990, she appeared in a wide range of successful Punjabi films, mostly in which she was starred opposite action hero Sultan Rahi. She rose to prominence when director Syed Noor introduced her in Urdu feature films, and became one of the leading and highest-paid actresses of Pakistani cinema after starring in the mainstream Punjabi-language film Choorian, which ranks among the highest grossing Pakistani films of all time. Choorian also holds the record to be one of the longest running Pakistani films showcased at a single screen cinema where it ran for five years. In the same year, Saima agreed to work in female centric action film Daku Rani which opened to mixed reviews. In 2000, she acted in the successful horror film Billi, also directed by Noor. Saima was praised for playing double roles of a fearless girl and her mother in adventure film Jungle Queen. After many successful films, her career was disturbed after the decline of Lollywood in early 2000s. However, she shot to fame again due to her performance in blockbuster film Majajan and reprise the same character in the film's sequel Zill-e-Shah. Her film Majajan ran for five years in cinemas. During the shooting of Majajan, director Syed Noor married her but kept it a secret until Saima publicly revealed in a 2007's press conference that the couple married in 2005. In 2012, she starred in another film with Noor, titled Shareeka which generated negative reviews and turned out to be a disaster.

Rang Laaga is a 2015 Pakistani drama serial that originally aired on ARY Digital from 11 March 2015 to 4 November 2015, airing a total 34 episodes. It was directed by Anjum Shahzad and was written by Sana Fahad. The drama stars Saima Noor, Faisal Qureshi, Neelam Muneer and Saboor Ali in pivot roles. At the annual 15th Lux Style Awards, Rang Laaga received five nominations, including Best TV Play for Mustafa and Kazmi, Best TV Actor for Qureshi, Best TV Actress for Noor, Best Director for Shehzad, and Best Writer for Fahad.

Azaadi is a 2018 Pakistani action thriller war film, that was released on 16 June 2018. It is written, directed and co-produced by Imran Malik with his brother Irfan Malik under the banner of their father Pervez Malik Films. Based on the issue of Kashmir conflict and freedom for Jammu and Kashmir, the film stars Moammar Rana, Sonya Hussain and Nadeem Baig in the leading roles. Dialogues for the film are written by Wajid Zuberi, and the film has been distributed by ARY Films.

Kis Ki Aayegi Baraat or Baraat Series is a Pakistani comedy television series developed by Marina Khan and Nadeem Baig for Geo Entertainment. It is loosely based on the marriage ceremonies that take place in Punjabi families in Punjab, and stars Bushra Ansari as a comical woman named Saima Chaudhry along with Saba Hameed, Jawed Sheikh, and Shehryar Zaidi. The series received generally positive reviews from critics.

Mubarak Ho Beti Hui Hai is a Pakistani drama series directed by Badar Mehmood and written by Faiza Iftikhar. It originally aired on ARY Digital in 2017 and gained amazing recognition. The series stars Sabreen Hisbani, Saima Noor, Sajid Hasan, and Sindhyar Baloch. The story is based on real-life scenarios with women being mistreated and relates to sadly, many women. .:

<i>Deewar-e-Shab</i> 2019–20 Pakistani television series

Deewar-e-Shab is a 2019 Pakistani historical drama television series created and produced by Momina Duraid of MD Productions, and directed by Iqbal Hussain. It is the dramatization of the novel of the same name by Aliya Bukhari. The series has Nausheen Shah, Sarah Khan, Shehzad Sheikh, Shehroz Sabzwari Bushra Ansari, Asma Abbas, Kinza Hashmi, Anmol Baloch, Hira Soomro and Osama Tahir as leading actors while Zara Noor Abbas, Iqbal Ansari and Mohsin Abbas Haider also have an extended cameo appearance. The series premiered from 8 June 2019 to 21 March 2020 on Hum TV.

Inteqam is a 2022 Pakistani television series, directed by Zahid Mehmood and written by Saira Arif. It is produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi under their banner 7th Sky Entertainment. It premiered on 10 January 2022 on Geo TV. It stars Aruba Mirza and Humayoun Ashraf.
