Samuel Joseph Piraro (born December 22, 1951) is an American baseball coach who was head coach at San Jose State from 1987 to 2002 and again from 2004 to 2012. [1] Piraro led San Jose State to its first College World Series appearance in 2000. [2] [3]

Bellarmine College Preparatory is an all-boys, Jesuit, private secondary school located in San Jose, California. Founded in 1851, it is the oldest secondary school in California and the second-oldest west of the Mississippi River. In 2020, Niche ranked Bellarmine as #1 in Best All-Boys High Schools in California.

The San Jose State Spartans are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent San José State University. SJSU sports teams compete in the Mountain West Conference (MW) at the NCAA Division I level, with football competing in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). San Jose State is one of 20 Division I members in the state of California, seven of which are FBS members. The other FBS members are fellow MW conference mates Fresno State and San Diego State, plus Pac-12 Conference members University of California, Stanford, UCLA and USC. SJSU has participated in athletics since it first fielded a baseball team in 1890.

The San Diego Toreros baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball program of the University of San Diego, located in San Diego, California, United States. The program has been a member of the NCAA Division I West Coast Conference since prior to the 1985 season. Since 2013, its home venue has been Fowler Park, located on the University of San Diego campus. Rich Hill was the program's head coach from 1999 until 2021. As of the end of the 2012 season, the team has appeared in seven NCAA Tournaments, all since 2002. It has won four conference championship series, three regular season conference championships, and two regular season division championships. As of the start of the 2014 Major League Baseball season, 15 former Toreros have appeared in Major League Baseball.

The 2012 San Jose State Spartans football team represented San Jose State University in the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Spartans were led by third year head coach Mike MacIntyre and played their home games at Spartan Stadium. They were members of the Western Athletic Conference. This was the Spartans' final season as members of the WAC. They joined the Mountain West Conference on July 1, 2013. They finished the season 11–2, 5–1 in WAC play to finish in second place. They were invited to the Military Bowl where they defeated Bowling Green.

Bryce Christopher Johnson is an American professional baseball outfielder for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball at Sam Houston State University. The Giants selected Johnson in the sixth round of the 2017 MLB draft. In 2021, he led the Triple-A West in stolen bases.
