Samoans in Hawaii are Hawaii residents of Samoan descent. Samoans in Hawaii may be from or have ancestors in the independent nation of Samoa, the territory of American Samoa, or both.
Due to the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, many American Samoans migrated to the rest of the United States. Many of them settled in Hawaii. [1]
Samoans from the independent part of Samoa also migrated to Hawaii later on.
In 2010, 37,463 Hawaii residents (or 2-3% of the population) claimed Samoan ancestry, with 19,176 of them being mixed ethnicity. [2] The vast majority of them live in Honolulu County (Oahu). [3] [4]
Gerald Michael Gabbard is a Samoan American politician, serving as the Hawaii State Senator for District 21 from the Democratic party, since 2006. Gabbard rose to prominence for efforts to prevent same-sex marriage in Hawai'i by passing a 1998 amendment to the Constitution of Hawaii to give the state legislature "the power to reserve marriage to opposite-sex couples" under the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Gabbard, who was born in American Samoa, is the first person of Samoan descent to serve in the Hawaii Senate.
Fanene Leifi Pita Maivia, better known as Peter Maivia, was a Samoan-American professional wrestler, actor and stunt coordinator. Maivia was the grandfather of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson via adoption, and was also part of the famous Anoa'i family via blood brother pact. He was also a promoter for the National Wrestling Alliance in Hawaii.

The 2020 Alabama Democratic presidential primary took place on March 3, 2020, as one of 15 contests scheduled on Super Tuesday in the Democratic Party primaries for the 2020 presidential election. The open primary allocated 52 pledged delegates towards the 2020 Democratic National Convention, distributed in proportion to the results of the primary, statewide and within each congressional district. The state was also given an additional 8 unpledged delegates (superdelegates), whose votes at the convention were not bound to the result of the primary.
