History

In July 2011, SMC announced its participation in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) beginning in the 2012 ABL season, [1] as the San Miguel Beermen - a franchise distinct from its PBA franchise.

In June 2013, the Beermen won its first ABL title in the 2013 ABL Playoffs, defeating the Indonesia Warriors. [2] The team disbanded shortly after without any formal announcement. [3] [4]

On January 31, 2018, SMC returned to the ABL as name sponsor of Alab Pilipinas. [5]
