Sanamxai , Sanamxay or Muang Sanamxai is a small river town on the Xe Khong River in Attapeu Province, in southern Laos. [1] It is the capital of Sanamxay District. It is downriver from the provincial capital of Attapeu and is connected by Lao National Highway 18.

Tamoyot or Ban Tamoyot is a village in Sanamxay District in Attapeu Province, in southern Laos. It is located 13 kilometres from Sanamxai and lies on the banks of the Se Kamon River. The village, as of 2004, has a population of 158 people and 28 houses. Most of the villagers are from the Su ethnic group and rely heavily on rice farming and fishing.

Su' is a Mon–Khmer language of the Bahnaric branch spoken in Attapeu Province, Laos. The 1995 Attapeu census recorded a population of only 124 speakers in Sanamsay District. Su' autonyms are identical with that of the Jru', but they consider themselves to be a separate ethnic group. There could also possibly be speakers in Stung Treng Province, Cambodia.

Xe Pian National Park is a national park in Champasak and Attapeu provinces in southern Laos. This forested, hilly park is home to significant wetlands and a great diversity of animal, bird and fish species. It is an ecotourism destination.

Attapeu International Airport is an airport that serves Attapeu in Laos. It opened in May 2015 following two years of construction. Lao Airlines provided flights from Vientiane via Pakse three times a week; however, it stopped them in October 2016 because of low passenger demand. The airport is located in Attapeu Province, which borders Vietnam and has seen greater commercial activity; however, it does not receive much tourism.
