Sandhyarani Chatterjee (widely known as Sandhyarani) was an Indian actress who is known for her work in Bengali cinema. [3] She was a reigning actress of Bengali cinema during 1940s and 1950s. [4] She appeared in more than 250 Bengali films. [5] She made her silver screen debut in Sarbojanin Bibahotsab (April 26, 1938). [6] She featured opposite Uttam Kumar in Ajoy Kar's Bardidi (1957). [7] Even after she played supporting characters later, her popularity remained intact. [8]

Career

In 1948, Sandhyarani featured as Gyanoda in Arakshaniya based on Sarat Chandra Chatterjee's much celebrated novel of the same name. [9] Ajoy Bhattacharya cast her in his Bengali comedy film Chhadmabeshi (1944) [lower-alpha 1] based on the story of the same name by Upendranath Gangopadhyay. [10] [11] Suchitra Sen eschewed the central role in Suryamukhi, Sandhyarani was offered to play the concerned role. [12]

Ogo Bodhu Shundori is a 1981 Bengali comedy film, directed by Salil Dutta. It was one of the last films of the iconic Bengali actor Uttam Kumar, who died during production. A lookalike, Prabir Kumar, was brought in to stand in for Uttam Kumar during the final sections of the film and in the song O Daddy O Mummy. The film starred also Moushumi Chatterjee, Sumitra Mukherjee, Ranjit Mallick and Santosh Dutta. The film became blockbuster hit at the box office.

Hrad is a Bengali drama film directed by Ardhendu Sen. The film starring Uttam Kumar, Sandhyarani, Chhabi Biswas, Asit Baran. This film was released on 29 July 1955 under the banner of Rupmaya films. The story was based on Bimal Kar's novel of same name. The film showed to Uttam's one of the most different and critical character, where he played a memory lost patient and give one of the finest performance in his entire career. Uttam received for the first time BFJA Best Actor Award in his career. The famous music composer Manabendra Mukhopadhyay was the music director of the film. This was a mental health and a psychological treatment film. The film became moderate success at the box office.

Aditi Chatterjee is an Indian actress who is known for her work in Bengali cinema and television. She made her acting debut in Bengali cinema, as a child artist. She made her Bollywood debut with her role as Shrutakirti in Lav Kush (1997). She portrayed Trina in Rituparno Ghosh's Dahan (1997). Her first starring role was opposite Prosenjit Chatterjee in Swapan Saha's Bengali drama film Nayaner Alo (1998). She was catapulted to stardom after she starred as Nandini opposite Saswata Chatterjee in Ravi Ojha's Ek Akasher Niche. At the peak of her career she abruptly quit her career and went abroad. She made her comeback with a role in Babu Banik's Bengali TV series Raashi, in 2011. She has also appeared in popular Bengali TV series such as Trishna, Rupkatha, Akashchoyan, Kiranmala, Goyenda Ginni, Jai Kali Kalkattawali, Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni, Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay, Mithai to name few.
