Comparative literature studies is an academic field dealing with the study of literature and cultural expression across linguistic, national, geographic, and disciplinary boundaries. Comparative literature "performs a role similar to that of the study of international relations but works with languages and artistic traditions, so as to understand cultures 'from the inside'". While most frequently practised with works of different languages, comparative literature may also be performed on works of the same language if the works originate from different nations or cultures in which that language is spoken.
Whitman College is one of seven residential colleges at Princeton University, New Jersey, United States. The college is named after Meg Whitman, a former CEO of eBay, who donated $30 million to build the college. The structures were designed by the architect Demetri Porphyrios, the winner of the 2004 Driehaus Prize. Whitman College was completed in the fall of 2007, and first occupied during the 2007–08 academic year.

Michael Wood is professor emeritus of English at Princeton University. He is a literary and cultural critic, and an author of critical and scholarly books as well as a writer of reviews, review articles, and columns.
Richard Alan Macksey was Professor of Humanities and co-founder and longtime Director of the Humanities Center at The Johns Hopkins University, where he taught critical theory, comparative literature, and film studies. Professor Macksey was educated at Johns Hopkins, earning his B.A. in 1953 and his Ph.D. in 1957. He taught at Johns Hopkins since 1958. Shu-mei Shih is a Korean-born Taiwanese American scholar and literary theorist. She is a Professor of Comparative Literature, Asian Languages and Cultures, and Asian American Studies at University of California, Los Angeles and was the president of the American Comparative Literature Association from 2021 to 2022. In 2018, she was also appointed as Honorary Chair Professor of Taiwan Languages, Literature and Culture at National Taiwan Normal University and is the current director of the UCLA-NTNU Taiwan Studies Initiative of the UCLA Asia Pacific Center.
Yi-Chun Tricia Lin is a Taiwanese feminist scholar and professor at the Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) in the United States and Director of SCSU's Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program. She was the president of the National Women's Studies Association from 2012 to 2014. She is the co-founder of the North American Asian Feminist (NAAF) Collective Caucus at the National Women's Studies Association Conference. She has received awards from the National Endowment for the Humanities and Fulbright Program. In addition to being featured in Ms. magazine, Lin's work has also been published in peer-reviewed academic journals such as Frontiers and Journal of Global Indigeneity.
