Santa Cruz, [1] [2] [3] (called Yuraqmayu [4] or Yuracma [5] [2] near its end) is a creek in Peru located in Santa Cruz District, Huaylas Province, Ancash. It is a right tributary of the Santa River. [1]

It originates in the Cordillera Blanca southwest of Taulliraju, near a lake named Tawlliqucha. It flows from northeast to southwest through lakes Jatuncocha and Ichiccocha and passing by the village of Llamacorral, flanked by the mountains Pucajirca, Quitaraju and Santa Cruz in the north and by Sintiru, Artesonraju and Caraz in the south. Southwest of Santa Cruz, near the village of Cashapampa, [1] it turns to the northwest and then joins the Santa River near the villages of Colcas and Pacamayo, [1] [2] [5] 140 km before the Santa River reaches the Pacific Ocean. The toponymy Yuraqmayu is of Quechua origin, possibly meaning: yuraq white, mayu river, [7] "white river".

Santa Cruz, Pucaraju,Pukaraju or Pico de Huaylas is a mountain in the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru; within Santa Cruz District, Huaylas Province, Ancash. It has a height of 6,259 metres (20,535 ft), although other maps cite a height of 6,241 metres (20,476 ft).

Lake Rajucocha

Lake Rajucocha is a lake in Peru located at a height of about 4,700 metres (15,420 ft) in the Ancash Region, Huaylas Province, Santa Cruz District. The lake is 1.1 km long, 0.58 km wide, and has an area of 0.54 km2. Lake Rajucocha lies in the Cordillera Blanca, west of Santa Cruz Norte.

Sentilo

Sentilo is a 5,100-metre-high (16,700 ft) mountain in the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru. It is located in Ancash Region, Huaylas Province, Santa Cruz District. Sentilo lies at the Punta Unión pass, the highest point of the Santa Cruz valley, south of the mountains Rinrijirca and Pucajirca, southwest of Taulliraju, and northeast of mountains Artesonraju and Parón.

Lake Ichiccocha or Lake Chica is a lake in the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru located in Ancash Region, Huaylas Province, Santa Cruz District. It lies within Santa Cruz Creek, between the mountains Pomabamba to the north and Caraz to the south, southwest of the larger lake Jatuncocha.

Jatuncocha (Caraz)

Jatuncocha is a lake in the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru located in the Ancash Region, Huaylas Province, Santa Cruz District. It is situated at a height of 3,886 m (12,749 ft) comprising an area of 0.486550 km2 (486,550 m2). Jatunccocha lies in the Santa Cruz gorge between the peaks of Quitaraju in the north and Caraz in the south, northeast of a smaller lake named Ichiccocha.

Pilanco

Pilanco is a mountain in the north of the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru, about 5,286 metres (17,343 ft) high. It is located in Yuracmarca District, Huaylas Province, Ancash. Pilanco lies northeast of Santa Cruz, northwest of Alpamayo and east of Millwaqucha. Los Cedros Creek flows along its southern slopes, receiving the name Alpamayo in that section.

Taullicocha (Ancash)

Taullicocha or Tawlliqucha is a lake in the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru located in the Ancash Region, Huaylas Province, Santa Cruz District. It is situated at a height of 4,426 m (14,521 ft) comprising an area of 0.133766 km2 (133,766 m2). Taullicocha lies southeast of Pucajirca and southwest of Taulliraju.

Los CedrosCreek is a stream in Peru located in Huaylas Province, Ancash. It is a right tributary of the Santa River which flows to the Pacific Ocean.

Quilcayhuanca Valley in the Ancash Region in Peru

Quilcayhuanca, Quillcay,Quilcay or Qelkaywanka is a river in the Ancash Region in Peru. It is a right affluent of the Santa River.

Challhua

Challhua, Wiksu or Huicsu is a mountain in the southern Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru, about 5,487 m (18,002 ft) high. Challhua is located in the Ancash Region, Bolognesi Province, Aquia District and in the Recuay Province, Catac District. It is situated northeast of Caullaraju, west of Pastu Ruri and Tuco and south of Santun. One of the nearest places is the village of Wicso, located next to Callan creek, west of the mountain. This creek flows to the Pumapampa River, a right affluent of the Santa River.

Vicos

Vicos or Paccharuri is a 5,315 m (17,438 ft) high mountain in the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru. It is situated in the Ancash Region, Carhuaz Province, Marcara District. Paccharuri lies in the Huascarán National Park, southwest of Copa and southeast of Lake Lejiacocha.

Raju Cutac

Raju Cutac, Rajo Cutac or Rajutuna, is a 5,355-metre-high (17,569 ft) mountain in the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru. It is situated in the Ancash Region, Bolognesi Province, Aquia District. Raju Cutac lies southeast of Challhua and Tuco.

Milluacocha

Milluacocha is a 5,404-metre-high (17,730 ft) mountain in the Cordillera Blanca range in the Andes of Peru. Other sources claim this mountain has an elevation of 5,480-metre-high (17,979 ft). It is located in Yuracmarca District, Huaylas Province, Ancash. It lies between Santa Cruz in the southeast and Champara in the northwest. Pilanco is located east of it. Los Cedros Creek flows along its southern slopes.

Tawlli Qaqa

Tawlli Qaqa is a mountain in the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru which reaches a height of approximately 4,800 m (15,700 ft). It is located in the Ancash Region, Huaylas Province, Santa Cruz District. Tawlli Qaqa lies at the Yuraqmayu valley south of Kitarahu, southwest of Kitaqucha and northwest of Hatunqucha.

Santa Cruz Norte is a mountain in the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru; within Santa Cruz District, Huaylas Province, Ancash. It has a height of 5,829 metres (19,124 ft).

Santa Cruz Chico

Santa Cruz Chico, is a mountain in the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru; within Santa Cruz District, Huaylas Province, Ancash. It has a height of 5,800 metres (19,029 ft).

Yuraqqucha (Ancash)

Yuraqqucha is a lake in the Cordillera Blanca in the Andes of Peru. It is situated at a height of 4,618 m (15,151 ft) comprising an area of 0.287268 km2 (287,268 m2). Pukaqucha is located in the Ancash Region, Huaylas Province, Santa Cruz District, northwest of the peak of Pukarahu.
