Sapna Awasthi Singh is a Bollywood playback singer [1] best remembered for her "Banno Teri Ankhiyan Soorme" from Dushmani (1996), "Pardesi Pardesi" from Raja Hindustani (1996), "Chaiyya Chaiyya" from Dil Se.. (1998), "Angoori Badan" from Jaanwar (1998) and "UP Bihar Lootne" from Shool (1999). [2]
Sapna Awasthi started training in classical music at a young age and completed Sangeet Vishaarad in Bhatkhande Music Institute, Lucknow. She began singing for the radio when she was fifteen, before performing on stage. She received her first break in Bollywood from composer Sameer Sen. [3]
Awasthi is from Kumaon region of Uttarakhand and relocated to Mumbai after singing songs in Krantiveer (1994). She has sung for prominent musicians like Nadeem–Shravan, Anand–Milind, Anu Malik, A. R. Rahman, Sandeep Chowta and others. Her biggest hit to date, as is usually believed, is not her duet 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' (co-singer Sukhvinder Singh) for A. R. Rahman's Dil Se (1998), but 'Pardesi Pardesi' (co-singers Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik) for Nadeem-Shravan's Raja Hindustani (1996).

Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor play the lead roles. Released on 15 November 1996, the film's plot was inspired from the 1965 film Jab Jab Phool Khile, starring Shashi Kapoor and Nanda. Dil Se.. is a 1998 Indian Hindi-language romantic thriller film co-written and directed by Mani Ratnam who produced it with Ram Gopal Varma and Shekhar Kapur. Dhadkan (transl. Heartbeat) is a 2000 Indian Hindi-language musical romantic drama directed by Dharmesh Darshan and produced by Ratan Jain. It stars Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty, Suniel Shetty and Mahima Chaudhry in lead roles. Being inspired by the novel Wuthering Heights, it also features Sharmila Tagore, Parmeet Sethi, Kiran Kumar, Sushma Seth and Manjeet Kullar in supporting roles. Based on Sufi music and Urdu poetry, the single was derived from the lyrics of the song "Tere Ishq Nachaya", written by Bulleh Shah, with music composed by A.R. Rahman, written by Gulzar, and sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Sapna Awasthi. The accompanying music video was directed by Mani Ratnam and picturised on Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora, where they perform the song on top of a moving train.

Tere Ishq Nachaya is a Punjabi Sufi song composed by 18th-century mystic-poet Baba Bulleh Shah. It is a popular song performed by Sufi and qawwali singers, including Abida Parveen and also featured in Sufi music album, Sufi –Ishq Bada Bedardi.
