Sarah Arapta is a businesswoman and corporate executive from Uganda. She is the managing director and CEO of Citibank Uganda. [1] She is also the Chairperson of Uganda Bankers Association since May 13, 2022 [2] [3] [4]

Background and education

She was born in circa 1970s. She studied at local primary and secondary schools before she entered Makerere University, the oldest and largest public university in the country. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. She also holds a Master of Business Administration degree, awarded by Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. Career

Arapta was employed at Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited for a period of nearly five years. She started there as the Head Corporate Banking before becoming the Head of Investment Banking. She transferred to Barclays Bank of Uganda in January 2014 as the Director of Corporate and Investment Banking, serving in that capacity for one year and six months. In January 2016, she was appointed managing director and CEO of Citibank Uganda. She credited with growing Citibank Uganda's assets from UGX:951.1 billion ($262 million) in January 2016 to UGX:1.409 trillion ($388.3 million) in January 2022. [5] [6] [7]

Other considerations

Arapta is member of the five-person executive committee of the Uganda Bankers Association (UBA), where she served as the Chief Auditor, from May 2018 until May 2020. [8] [9] In May 2022, she was elected chairperson of UBA, replacing Mathias Katamba, who served in that role from 2020 until 2022. Her term runs until May 2024. [10]

Margaret Mhango Mwanakatwe is a Zambian politician who was the Minister of Finance from 14 February 2018 to 14 July 2019. She worked previously as a businesswoman, accountant, and bank executive. She was the director for business development in Anglophone Africa at the United Bank for Africa at the bank's headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria. In this role, she supervised business development in Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. Before that, she served as the managing director and chief executive officer of the United Bank for Africa Uganda Limited from March 2009 until May 2011.

Patrick Mweheire is a Ugandan investment banker and bank executive. He is the regional group managing director and regional group chief executive of Standard Bank Group for Eastern Africa. He took up this position on 1 March 2020.

Julius Kakeeto, is a Ugandan accountant, businessman, and bank executive. He has served as the managing director and chief executive officer of PostBank Uganda since November 2019. Before that, from 2015 until 2019, he was the managing director and CEO of Orient Bank, a Ugandan commercial bank.

Anne Juuko, is a Ugandan investment banker and corporate executive, who was appointed by Standard Bank Group as the Regional Head of Global Markets in the group's Eastern African region, covering South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia. Her appointment took effect on 1 April 2024. Her work station is located in Nairobi, Kenya. Before that, from 1 March 2020 until 31 March 2024, she was the managing director and chief executive officer of Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited, the largest commercial bank in the country, by assets, valued at US$1.6 billion as of June 2019. She took up this appointment on 1 March 2020.

Chioma A. Mang, is a Nigerian lawyer and corporate executive, who serves as the executive director of Keystone Bank Limited, a commercial bank in Nigeria, effective January 2024, following her appointment to that position, by the Central Bank of Nigeria. Before that, from December 2020 until January 2024, she served as the managing director and chief executive officer of United Bank for Africa Uganda Limited. Prior to then, she was the managing director and CEO of United Bank for Africa's subsidiary in Gabon.

Goretti Masadde is currently the chief executive officer of the Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services, based in Kampala, Uganda's capital city. She took up her assignment at the institute in March 2020. She concurrently serves as a director of Nutreal Limited, a manufacturer and distributor of healthy snack foods, a company she co-founded in 2010.

Grace B. Muliisa, is a Ugandan banker and corporate executive, who in August 2021, was appointed as the managing director and chief executive officer of Ecobank Uganda Limited, a commercial bank in the country. Prior to that, she was the Head Personal and Business Banking at Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited, the largest commercial bank in Uganda by assets.

Saviour Chibiya, is a Zambian economist and corporate executive, who is the group executive for regional operations at Absa Group Limited, effective November 2021. In this position, he is a member of the group executive committee. He reports directly to the group CEO of Absa Group. He is based at the group headquarters, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Julia Clare Olima Oyet is an accountant, central banker and corporate executive in Uganda. She is the chief executive officer of the Uganda Deposit Protection Fund (UDPF), the semi-independent government agency that insures a portion of customers' bank deposits. She was appointed to that position in 2017, on secondment from the Bank of Uganda, the country's central bank and national banking regulator.

Immaculate Irumba Komuhangi, commonly known as Immaculate Irumba, is a Ugandan banker and corporate executive, who works as the chief operating officer (COO) of Cairo Bank Uganda, a commercial bank in the country. Prior to that, she was the senior projects manager at Housing Finance Bank, another commercial bank.
