Sarah Reng Ochekpe is a Nigerian Politician from Plateau State. She was the Minister of Water Resources from 2011 to 2015.
Ochekpe was born on October 4,1961,to the family of Ali Reng Madugben in Foron,a district of Barikin Ladi Local government area of Plateau State. She had her first degree in political science from Ahmadu Bello University,then a master's degree in public administration from University of Jos. She also has post graduate qualifications from Aberdeen College of Commerce and Nigerian Institute of Journalism. [1] [2]
In 2024,Ochekpe completed a PhD in Gender Studies from the University of Jos. Specialising in masculinity and male dominance in Berom land.
She is married to Professor Nelson Ochekpe from Otukpo Local Government in Benue State. He is a professor of pharmaceutical chemistry and deputy vice chancellor [3] at the University of Jos.
Ochekpe occupied several directorial roles in National Orientation Agency (Nigeria),before her ministerial appointment. [1] During her time in government,she is noted to have increased the level of accessible water for Nigerians to 70%,and created and rehabilitated artificial waterways that reduced flooding and alleviated unemployment. [4] [5] [6] In 2017,she and two other persons were accused of money laundering and conspiracy worth ₦450 million. [7]
Jos is a city in the North-Central region of Nigeria. The city has a population of about 900,000 residents based on the 2006 census. Popularly called "J-Town",it is the administrative capital and largest city of Plateau State. The city is situated on the Jos plateau which is lies within the Guinea Savannah of North-Central Nigeria. It connects most of the North-Eastern capitals to the Federal Capital Territory Abuja,by road. Driving in and out of Jos,traffic encounters very steep and windy bends and mountainous sceneries typical of the plateau,from which the state derives its name.

The Afizere people are an ethnic group in Nigeria that occupy Jos East,Jos North,parts of Jos South and Mangu Local Government Areas of Plateau State and parts of Toro and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Areas of Bauchi State,Nigeria. The Afizere are speakers of Izere language. The neighbors of the Afizere to the north are the Hausa and Jarawan Dass. To the east and southeast are the Zari,Zaar and Pyem. To the south and southwest are the Berom while the Irigwe and Bache lie to the west. Northwest of the Afizere are many ethnic groups,the closest of which are the Anaguta,Bujel,Ribina,Kayauri and Duguza;more distant ones include Buji,Gusu,Sanga,Jere,Amoa,and Lemoro.
The 2012 Nigeria floods began in early July 2012. It killed 363 people and displaced over 2.1 million people as of 5 November 2012. According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA),30 of Nigeria's 36 states were affected by the floods and the two most affected areas were Kogi and Benue States. The floods were termed as the worst in 40 years,and affected an estimated total of seven million people. The estimated damages and losses caused by the floods was N2.6 trillion.

Pauline Tallen OFR is a Nigerian politician who served as the Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development from 2019 to 2023. She was appointed in 2019 by President Muhammadu Buhari after turning down an ambassadorial nomination in 2015 on the grounds that she was not consulted prior to the announcement of the appointment and that she would not accept the offer for equal distribution of power among the three senatorial districts of her native state of plateau because she is from same local government as Governor Simon Lalong.

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) is a public research university located in Zaria,Kaduna State,Nigeria. It was opened in 1962 as the University of Northern Nigeria.
