Sarasa Balussery is a stage actress in Kerala and a film actress in Malayalam cinema. Her films include Sudani from Nigeria (2018), Virus (2019), Thirike (2021) and Dakini (2018).

She became more popular after she was cast in Malayalam film along with Savithri Shreedharan in Sudani from Nigeria in  2018 and the movie was successful and her performance received various awards.[ citation needed ]

Personal life

Sarasa has acted for five decades on the Malayalam stage. Her association was with Kozhikode based drama theaters such as Kalinga, Sangamam, Stage Inda, Chiranthana and she performed in numerous plays. Three decades ago she was cast in the Malayalam film Uyarum Njan Nadake, which was an early Mohanlal film, as the mother role. [1]

Sudani from Nigeria is a 2018 Indian Malayalam-language sports drama film written and directed by Zakariya Mohammed, with dialogues co-written by Muhsin Parari. Shyju Khalid was the cinematographer, who also produced the film with Sameer Thahir. It stars Soubin Shahir, with Samuel Abiola Robinson as the titular character. The story is about the bond between Samuel, Nigerian football player who joins a club in Malappuram, Kerala for a sevens football tournament and Majeed, Samuel's malayali football coach, who take care of him after he got a leg fracture.

Savithri Sreedharan is an Indian theatre and film actress. She has been a part of several Calicut-based theatre groups for over forty years and made her film debut in 2018 in the film Sudani from Nigeria which earned her a Special Mention at the 66th National Film Awards. Her other major films are Virus (2019) and Dakini (2018).
