Sari Kees (born 17 February 2001) is a Belgian footballer who plays as a defender for Belgian Women's Super League club Oud-Heverlee Leuven and the Belgium national team.

Club career

Kees started her youth career as a goalkeeper at SP Budingen. At age 10, she joined OH Leuven, and further developed as a central defender throughout their youth teams for the next eight seasons.[ citation needed ]

On 12 June 2019, it was announced that Kees joined Racing Genk for one season, becoming a team regular there. [1] [2]

Kees returned to OH Leuven again in April 2020, [3] scoring the winning goal in their 1–0 win against defending champions Anderlecht in March 2022. [4] Leuven ended in second place behind Anderlecht for three straight seasons, from 2020-21 to 2022-23.[ citation needed ]

Kees stated that her ambitions for the coming years are becoming a full-time member of the national team, and earning a transfer to a foreign club.[ citation needed ]

International career

Kees is a member of the national team since the under-15s. As a central defender, she played for the under-19s in the UEFA U19 Championship in 2019 in their group matches against Spain, Germany and England. [5]

Kees made her debut for the Belgium national team on 16 February 2022, in a 4–0 win against Slovakia in the Pinatar Cup in Spain. [6]

It began on 29 July 2011 with the first match of the regular season and ended in May 2012 with the last matches of the playoff rounds. The 2012–13 season of the Belgian Pro League was the 110th season of top-tier football in Belgium. It started on 28 July 2012 with the first match of the regular season between Kortrijk and defending champions Anderlecht, and ended on 26 May 2013, which was the return leg of the European playoff.

The 2012–13 season was Oud-Heverlee Leuven's 11th competitive season in professional football. It was their second season in the Belgian Pro League. A promising start by OH Leuven and a 5-match winning streak in October resulted in a third place after 13 matchdays, but thereafter the team dropped in the standings to finally end 10th. In the playoffs, OH Leuven won their group but then lost the playoff final to Gent. In the Belgian Cup, OHL immediately lost their first match just like the previous season, this time going out to Oostende.

The 2013–14 season of the Belgian Pro League was the 111th season of top-tier football in Belgium. It started on 27 July 2013 with the match between Club Brugge and Charleroi and finished on 18 May 2014 with Anderlecht grabbing their 33rd title due to a 3–1 at home against Lokeren.
