Sarita Skagnes, (nee Satwant Kaur; born 1969) is a Norwegian author. [1]

Biography

Satwant Kaur was born in 1969, in Punjab, India, and grew up in India. As the third, and unwanted, girl, she was exchanged for a male cousin and instead grew up as a servant girl for another family. Her parents and siblings moved to Norway. When the father returned to India, Skagnes' grandmother pleaded with him to take Sarita to Norway as well. Sarita came to Norway at the age of sixteen, and has since broken all contact with her birth family. [1]

At the age of nineteen, she met the Norwegian man Alex Skagnes and even though her family protested and threatened them, they got married a year later and moved to Värmland in Sweden. Skagnes has for many years worked with charity organisations that works with helping girls in India. She along with her husband has started a help-fund called Fund for Higher Education of Girls in India, and she also makes speeches for young women and girls about their situation around the world. Her book Bare en datter (Just a daughter) has been published and translated into Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish and English. All the royalties goes directly to the Help-fund. [2]

Skagnes was on 9 July 2013 the presenter for Sommar i P1 at Sveriges Radio where she talked about the struggle to find her identity and women's rights. [3]

Amrit Kaur Indian politician (1889-1964)

Dame Rajkumari Bibiji Amrit Kaur DStJ was an Indian activist and politician. Following her long-lasting association with the Indian independence movement, she was appointed the first Health Minister of India in 1947 and remained in office until 1957. She also held the charge of Sports Minister and Urban Development Minister and was instrumental in setting up the National Institute of Sports, Patiala. During her tenure, Kaur ushered in several healthcare reforms in India and is widely remembered for her contributions to the sector and her advocacy of women's rights. Kaur was also a member of the Constituent Assembly of India, the body that framed the Constitution of India.

Rut Hedvig Lindahl is a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Spanish Primera División club Atlético Madrid. She previously played club football in Sweden for Damallsvenskan clubs including Malmö FF, Linköpings FC, Kristianstads DFF and Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC as well as Chelsea in the English FA WSL. Since making her international debut in 2002, Lindahl has accrued over 177 caps for the Sweden women's national football team. On 3 August 2014, Lindahl played her 100th cap for Sweden women's national football team against England. On 17 September 2015, Lindahl played her 113th cap and thereby broke Elisabeth Leidinge's record to become the most capped Swedish female goalkeeper. She has kept goal for Sweden at the UEFA Women's Championship, the FIFA Women's World Cup and the Olympic Games. Lindahl was the Swedish women's goalkeeper of the year in 2004, 2005, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. She won the 2015 Diamantbollen, after being one of three nominations for Damallsvenskan's Most Valuable Player in 2014.
