Sasha Belen Beatriz Nievas (born 4 June 1998) is an Argentine weightlifter and Crossfit Athlete, who represents Argentina at international competitions.
She won the bronze medal in the 58 kg category at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics. [1]
Sasha competed in her first Crossfit Open in 2018, finishing 487th worldwide and 5th in Argentina, earning a spot in the Latin America Regional. She finished 24th in that Regional Event.
In 2019, she finished again competed in the Crossfit Open, finishing 635th worldwide and 6th in Argentina. [2] In the first year of a new format, Sasha competed at the Brazil Crossfit Championship, a new Crossfit Sanctional Event. She finished 9th at the event, failing to earn a spot to the 2019 Crossfit Games. [3]
In 2020, Sasha finished 36th worldwide and 2nd in Argentina in the Crossfit Open. She scored the top time for Open Workout 20.4, with a time of 11:08. Her placing of 36th worldwide was initially enough to secure her a place in the 2020 Crossfit Games. [4] [5] Sasha competed at the 2020 Brazil Crossfit Championship, but did not finish. [3] With the changes to the qualification rules due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sasha's placing did not get to compete at the Games. [6]
In 2021, Sasha improved, finishing 25th worldwide and 1st in Argentina in the Crossfit Open. This placing earned her a spot in the Online Individual Quarterfinals, where she finished 3rd overall, winning Workout 2 in the new five workout format. [7] This placing earned her a spot at the 2021 Brazil Crossfit Championship, the South America region's Crossfit Semifinal Competition. This competition was conducted online due to COVID-19 restrictions. She finished 2nd overall, winning Workout 4 and earning the second of two spots from this competition at the 2021 Crossfit Games. [8] Sasha finished 31st at the Games, getting cut after the ninth event at the end of Day 2. Her best finish of the competition was 11th in event 8. [7]

The CrossFit Games is an annual athletic competition owned and operated by CrossFit, LLC. Athletes compete in a series of events at the Games, which may be various standard CrossFit workouts consisting of metabolic conditioning exercises, weightlifting, and gymnastics movements, as well as a range of activities from other sports such as swimming and cycling. The events generally are not revealed before the Games, can include unexpected elements to challenge the athletes' readiness to compete, and they are designed to test the athletes' fitness using CrossFit's own criteria. Fraser won $310,000 for his efforts and Toomey won $298,000 for her title, including bonus for event wins.

Cuba competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Cuban delegation was their smallest since 1964, which coincidentally was also in Tokyo. It was the nation's twenty-first appearance at the Summer Olympics. Cuba improved on its 2016 result, by winning 7 gold and 15 total medals after 5 and 11 in Rio.

CrossFit Mayhem is a CrossFit affiliate located in Cookeville, Tennessee. Mayhem was started in 2009 by Rich Froning Jr in his father's barn as a place to train. In 2012, Rich opened the original downtown facility, but almost immediately began plans to expand. That relocation/expansion occurred in 2016. Due in large part to Froning's success at the CrossFit Games, Crossfit Mayhem has become something of a pilgrimage site for many Crossfit Athletes and fans.
Sarah Maureen Cochrane is an Australian weightlifter. She won the silver medal in the women's 64 kg event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham, England. She also won the silver medal in the women's 64 kg event at the 2019 Pacific Games held in Apia, Samoa.
