The Scheffler Palace (Swedish : Schefflerska palatset) is a mansion located at Drottninggatan 116 in Stockholm, Sweden.

History

The mansion was built in the 1690s by the merchant Hans Petter Scheffler (d. 1707). He bought the plot in 1697 and moved in there around 1700. In the years 1875–1876, a renovation was carried out under the direction of architect Axel Kumlien (1833-1913). The property remained a private residence during the 18th and 19th centuries. The house had a café business, Café Petissan, in the years 1870–1907. Since the 1920s, the estate has been owned by Stockholm University. Johan Adolf Berg (1827-1884), who started a successful civil engineering company, bequeathed his collection contains art from the 1500s to the 1800s as well as Orrefors glass to Stockholm University which is on display at Scheffler Palace. Bonde Palace

The Bonde Palace is a palace in Gamla stan, the old town in central Stockholm, Sweden. Located between the House of Knights (Riddarhuset) and the Chancellery House (Kanslihuset), it is, arguably, the most prominent monument of the era of the Swedish Empire (1611–1718), originally design by Nicodemus Tessin the Elder and Jean De la Vallée in 1662-1667 as the private residence of the Lord High Treasurer Gustaf Bonde (1620–1667) it still bears his name, while it accommodated the Stockholm Court House from the 18th century and since 1949 houses the Swedish Supreme Court. On the south side of the building is the street Myntgatan and the square Riddarhustorget, while the alleys Riddarhusgränd and Rådhusgränd are passing on its western and eastern sides.

Stockholm Observatory astronomical observatory

Axel Törneman

Johan Axel Gustaf Törneman was one of Sweden's earliest modernist painters. Born in Persberg, Värmland, in Sweden, he grew to work in several modernist styles, was one of the first Swedish expressionist artists, and became a part of the international avant-garde in art after embracing more abstract art styles in Germany and France that were evolving there during the early 1900s. He created his most famous paintings, Night Café I and II, and Trait, in France in 1905. These night café paintings, made from studies in the Place Pigalle, and in other nightclubs popular with artists such as Café du Rat Mort, are seen as two of Swedish modernism's most important works, and are considered breakthrough work of Swedish modernism.

Strömbadet, Stockholm

Strömbadet was the first large cold bathhouse in Stockholm, located in Norrström, just north of Riddarholmen. It was opened in 1884 and was made entirely of wood in neo-renaissance style. For the design was the architect brothers Axel Kumlien and Hjalmar Kumlien.
