Scott DeLano (born September 20,1971) is an American politician who has served in the Mississippi State Senate from the 50th district since 2020. He previously served in the Mississippi House of Representatives from the 117th district from 2009 to 2020. [1] [2]
Mississippi County is a county located in the Bootheel of the U.S. state of Missouri,with its eastern border formed by the Mississippi River. As of the 2020 census,the population was 12,577. The largest city and county seat is Charleston. The county was officially organized on February 14,1845,and was named after the Mississippi River.
Pontotoc is a city in and the county seat of Pontotoc County,Mississippi,located to the west of the larger city of Tupelo. The population was 5,640 at the 2020 census. Pontotoc is a Chickasaw word that means,“Land of the Hanging Grapes.”A section of the city largely along Main Street and Liberty Street has been designated the Pontotoc Historic District and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Treaty of Pontotoc Site is also listed on the National Register. The Treaty of Pontotoc Creek,part of U.S. president Andrew Jackson's Indian Removal policy,ceded millions of acres of Native American lands and relocated the Chicakasaw west of the Mississippi River.
Chester Trent Lott Sr. is an American lobbyist,lawyer,author,and politician who represented Mississippi in the United States House of Representatives from 1973 to 1989 and in the United States Senate from 1989 to 2007. Lott served in numerous leadership positions in both chambers of Congress as one of the first of a wave of Republicans winning seats in Southern states that had been solidly Democratic. Later in his career,he served twice as Senate Majority Leader,and also,alternately,Senate Minority Leader.
