In baseball statistics,slugging percentage (SLG) is a measure of the batting productivity of a hitter. It is calculated as total bases divided by at-bats,through the following formula,where AB is the number of at-bats for a given player,and 1B,2B,3B,and HR are the number of singles,doubles,triples,and home runs,respectively:
Gordon Stanley "Mickey" Cochrane,nicknamed "Black Mike",was an American professional baseball player,manager and coach. He played in Major League Baseball as a catcher for the Philadelphia Athletics and Detroit Tigers. Cochrane was considered one of the best catchers in baseball history and is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. In his first season as manager,he led the Tigers to 101 wins,which was the most for a rookie manager for 27 years.
Harold Douglas Baines is an American former designated hitter and right fielder in Major League Baseball who played for five American League (AL) teams from 1980 to 2001,and is best known for his three stints with the Chicago White Sox. A Maryland native,he also played seven years with his hometown team,the Baltimore Orioles,over three separate periods. The first overall selection in the 1977 Major League Baseball Draft and a six-time All-Star,Baines led the AL in slugging percentage in 1984. He held the White Sox team record for career home runs from 1987 until Carlton Fisk passed him in 1990;his total of 221 remains the club record for left-handed hitters,as do his 981 runs batted in (RBI) and 585 extra base hits with the team. His 1,688 hits and 1,643 games as a DH stood as major-league records until David Ortiz broke them in 2013 and 2014. He also held the mark for career home runs as a DH (236) until Edgar Martínez passed him in 2004.
The Omaha Storm Chasers are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League and the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. They are located in Papillion,Nebraska,a suburb southwest of Omaha,and play their home games at Werner Park,which opened in 2011. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a first baseman from 1997 to 2014,most prominently as a member of the Chicago White Sox,where he was a six-time American League All-Star and team captain for the 2005 World Series winning team. Konerko began his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cincinnati Reds. In 2014,Konerko was named the recipient of the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award.
Terrence Edward Kennedy is an American former Major League Baseball catcher who played for the St. Louis Cardinals (1978–80),San Diego Padres (1981–86),Baltimore Orioles (1987–88) and San Francisco Giants (1989–91). He was a four-time All-Star,three times with the Padres and once with the Orioles. Kennedy batted left-handed and threw right-handed. He is the son of former major league player and manager Bob Kennedy.

The deal was,at that time,the largest in baseball history,in terms of both total value and average annual salary. To honor his father,Bonds switched his jersey number to 25 once he signed with the Giants,as it had been Bobby's number in San Francisco. Bonds hit .336 in 1993,leading the league with 46 home runs and 123 RBI en route to his second consecutive MVP award and third overall.
