Scott Andrew Schwedes (born June 30, 1965) is a former American football wide receiver who played four seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Miami Dolphins and San Diego Chargers. He was drafted by the Dolphins in the second round of the 1987 NFL Draft with the 56th overall pick. He played college football at Syracuse University and attended Jamesville-DeWitt High School in DeWitt, New York. [1] His father Gerhard Schwedes also played football at Syracuse and later the American Football League. [2]

Ernie Davis American football player (1939–1963)

Ernest Davis was an American football player who won the Heisman Trophy in 1961 and was its first African-American recipient. Davis played college football for Syracuse University and was the first pick in the 1962 NFL Draft, where he was selected by the Washington Redskins, but was almost immediately traded to the Cleveland Browns. Davis was diagnosed with leukemia that same year, and died shortly after at age 23 without ever playing in a professional game. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1979 and was the subject of the 2008 film The Express: The Ernie Davis Story.

The 1980 NFL draft was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur college football players. It is officially known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting. The draft was held April 29–30, 1980, at the New York Sheraton Hotel in New York City, New York. The league also held a supplemental draft after the regular draft and before the regular season. With the first overall pick of the draft, the Detroit Lions selected running back Billy Sims.

Bryan Cox American football player and coach (born 1968)

Bryan Keith Cox Sr. is an American football coach and former player. He is the assistant defensive line coach for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for Western Illinois University, an FCS program that has developed other NFL talent, and received attention for his aggressive style of play. Although Cox was a relatively late fifth-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in the 1991 NFL Draft, he rose to prominence as a standout linebacker during his twelve NFL seasons from 1991 through 2002. He was a three-time pro bowler with the Miami Dolphins, and was also a member of the New England Patriots club that won Super Bowl XXXVI.

Marino held or currently holds dozens of NFL records associated with the quarterback position, and despite never being on a Super Bowl-winning team, he is recognized among the greatest quarterbacks in American football history.

Gerhard H. Schwedes is a former American football halfback who played two seasons in the American Football League with the Boston Patriots and New York Titans. He was drafted by the Baltimore Colts in the fourth round of the 1960 NFL Draft. Schwedes was also a territorial pick of the Boston Patriots in 1960. He played college football at Syracuse University, which he helped to a victory in the 1960 Cotton Bowl Classic, and attended Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington, New Jersey. Schwedes' son Scott also played football at Syracuse and later in the NFL.
