Sean Hood (born August 13, 1966) is an American screenwriter and film director.
Hood graduated from Brown University, with a double major in pure mathematics and studio art, and then spent several years working in Hollywood as a set dresser, prop assistant and art director working with filmmakers as diverse as James Cameron, David Fincher and David Lynch. He continued his studies at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, graduating in 1997 with an MFA in production. His student short film, "The Shy and the Naked" won a grant from the Sloan Foundation for the positive portrayal of science. [1]
Hood sold his first spec screenplay to MTV Films in 2000, and went on to sign a deal with Dimension Films, [2] which included rewrites on Halloween: Resurrection and Cursed . He went on to work on Conan the Barbarian for producer Avi Lerner, [3] and Hercules: The Legend Begins . Most recently, he penned an screenplay adaptation of the novel Rolling in The Deep, which will be produced by J. Todd Harris and directed by Mary Lambert (director). [4] In 2011, Hood was hired to write the script for the fifth Rambo film, titled Rambo: Last Stand, [5] however, Hood's script was put on hold in early 2012. [6] In 2014, Hood's Rambo: Last Stand script was abandoned in favor of a new script by Sylvester Stallone. [7]
He wrote the episode Echoes for the NBC horror anthology series Fear Itself. Similarly, he contributed to the Showtime horror anthology series Masters of Horror by penning the episode Sick Girl .
Hood also worked on Sick for The CW. [8] and The Dorm for MTV. In 2022, he adapted Warren Ellis' comic FreakAngels into an animated series for Crunchyroll.
He was one of the founding members of Filmmakers Alliance and often collaborates creatively with FA's president, Jacques Thelemaque. [9] His most recent short film is Melancholy Baby.
Hood wrote the screenwriting blog Genre Hacks from 2008 until 2017. [10]
He is currently an adjunct professor at the USC School of Cinematic Arts. He teaches the courses "Writing the Feature Script" and "Advanced Motion Picture Script Analysis,"and "Creating The Short Film." [11]

John Howard Carpenter is an American filmmaker, actor, and composer. Although he has worked in various film genres, he is most commonly associated with horror, action, and science fiction films of the 1970s and 1980s. He is generally recognized as one of the greatest masters of the horror genre. At the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, the French Directors' Guild gave him the Golden Coach Award, lauding him as "a creative genius of raw, fantastic, and spectacular emotions".

Vernon Zimmerman is an American writer and director who made his debut as director with the 1962 short Lemon Hearts starring Taylor Mead. He collaborated with Terrence Malick on the script to his directorial debut, the road movie, Deadhead Miles. Zimmerman wrote and directed the Claudia Jennings roller derby drive-in film Unholy Rollers. He is most well known for his horror slasher film Fade to Black, a dark and despairing psychological study of an awkward and alienated hardcore film buff who exacts a harsh revenge on his cruel tormentors. Zimmerman received a Saturn Award nomination as Best Director for the film, a predecessor to more well-known modern parodies of the horror genre. Vernon also wrote the scripts for the horror-Western Hex, the redneck crime exploitation film Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw, the made-for-TV wrestling comedy/drama Mad Bull, the failed TV pilot film Shooting Stars, and the teen fantasy comedy Teen Witch. Zimmerman's latest film is the six-minute comic short Chuck and Wally on the Road. More recently Vernon has been working as a script analyst. He also teaches screen-writing courses at UCLA's Extension and Certificate Program. Zimmerman also taught classes on both writing feature scripts and directing actors for film and television at the USC School of Cinema and Television. Vernon Zimmerman lives in Los Angeles and is a member of both the Writers Guild of America and the Directors Guild of America.
