Sebastian Gregory (born 3 March 1990) is an Australian actor and musician. He is a self-taught guitarist, drummer and songwriter, who formed a band called Menace when he was thirteen. After being spotted in his own music video, Gregory was signed to an acting management agency. He has appeared in a number of short films, commercials and theatre productions. He made his first television appearance in a 2004 episode of Blue Heelers . Two years later he landed a recurring role in the soap opera Neighbours . Gregory made his feature film debut in Acolytes . This was followed by a role in 2009 film Beautiful and a regular role in children's television series The Elephant Princess . Gregory's next film roles were in comedy films Accidents Happen and A Heartbeat Away. In April 2012, Gregory joined the cast of Neighbours for a second time.

Early life

Gregory was born in Melbourne, Australia in the early 1990s. [2] He was given a drum kit when he was ten years old, and he toured hotels and clubs when he was eleven. [3] Gregory is a self-taught guitarist, drummer and songwriter. [3] [4] He formed a band called Menace when he was thirteen. [5] Production team Xenomania took the band to London, where they were offered a recording contract. [5] Gregory was also signed to an acting management agency after he was spotted in his own music video. [3]

Career

In 2004 Gregory guested as Rohan Shanley in an episode of Blue Heelers . [4] Two years later, he played the recurring role of Garrett Burns, a love interest for Rachel Kinski (Caitlin Stasey), in the soap opera Neighbours . [6]

He made his feature film debut in Jon Hewitt's Acolytes . [4] He plays Mark, a teenager who becomes involved in murder and violence. [4] Principal photography on the film began in April 2007 in Queensland. [4] Gregory's band, Menace, had two songs featured on the soundtrack. [7] Shortly after, Gregory was cast in Beautiful a film by writer-director Dean O'Flaherty. [2] [8] Of his role as Danny in the film, Gregory told Sacha Molitorisz of The Sydney Morning Herald "I always seem to be playing a weird, freaky kid. But there's something really beautiful about Danny." [2] For his portrayal of Danny, Gregory earned a nomination for Best Young Actor at the 2009 Australian Film Institute Awards. [9]

Gregory was cast in the regular role of JB Deekes in the children's television series The Elephant Princess in 2008. [4] [10] His Menace bandmates made a cameo appearance in episode seven of The Elephant Princess and one of their tracks was also featured. [3] In June 2008, Gregory joined the cast of the dark comedy film Accidents Happen , [8] which is based on a semi-autobiographical screenplay by Brian Carbee. [11] Gregory originally auditioned for a different role, but the filmmakers thought he would be perfect for the character Doug Post instead. [5] Accidents Happen was shot in Sydney and released in 2009. [11] [12]

In 2011, Gregory starred alongside Isabel Lucas in the Australian musical comedy film A Heartbeat Away . [8] [13] In April 2012, it was announced Gregory had re-joined the supporting cast of Neighbours as "mathematics genius" Ed Lee. [6] He was contracted for four-months and began appearing from 8 June 2012. [6] [14] Gregory then appeared in Return to Nim's Island , which was filmed on the Gold Coast in August 2012. [15]

Gregory played drummer Dylan James in the 2017 supernatural thriller American Satan . The role was later recast to James Cassells for the television spin-off Paradise City . [16] He also stars as a struggling artist amidst the American heroin epidemic in the 2018 drama film Shooting in Vain . [17]

<i>Neighbours</i> Australian soap opera (1985–present)

Neighbours is an Australian television soap opera, which has aired since 18 March 1985. It was created by television executive Reg Watson. The Seven Network commissioned the show following the success of Watson's earlier soap Sons and Daughters. Although successful in Melbourne, Neighbours underperformed in the Sydney market and was cancelled by Seven four months after it began airing. It was immediately commissioned by rival Network Ten for a second production season, which began screening on 20 January 1986. Neighbours became the longest-running drama series in Australian television history. In 2005, it was inducted into the Logie Hall of Fame.

Scott Ian Major is an Australian actor and TV and film director, known for his roles as Peter Rivers in the 1994 television teen drama series Heartbreak High and Lucas Fitzgerald in soap opera Neighbours. After leaving Neighbours in 2013, Major returned to direct over 200 episodes of the serial. He has since gone on to direct episodes of Playing for Keeps, and two miniseries Lie With Me and Riptide. Major reprised his role as Rivers in the 2022 reboot of Heartbreak High.

Mark Gottlieb is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, acted by Bruce Samazan. Samazan hoped the role would help him further his aspirations to become a popular Australian actor. He relocated from Sydney to Melbourne for filming and signed a six-month contract, which he then required to extend. He made his first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 13 August 1993. Mark was introduced as the brother of established regular Stephen Gottlieb. The role initially required Samazan to put on a French accent, which he based on his own father's. In order to distinguish Mark from his E Street character Max Simmons, Samazan got a Caesar cut and Mark had a trendy European wardrobe.

Written by Brian Carbee, based on his own childhood and adolescence, the story revolves around an accident-prone teenage boy and his family. The film was shot in Sydney, New South Wales, over June – July 2008, and opened in Australia on 22 April 2010.

Grant Mitchell (<i>Home and Away</i>) Fictional character from the Australian soap opera Home and Away

Grant Mitchell is a fictional character from the Australian Channel Seven soap opera Home and Away, played by Craig McLachlan. Grant debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 9 February 1990. McLachlan had previously appeared on rival soap opera Neighbours playing Henry Ramsay. When his contract was due to be renewed, the Seven Network offered him a more flexible contract to appear in Home and Away, which McLachlan signed. Grant arrives in Summer Bay as a new teacher starting work at the local school. Grant is described as a likeable teacher with a good rapport with his pupils. Kaiya Jones is a Scottish-born Australian actress, best known for playing the role of Sophie Ramsay in the Australian soap opera Neighbours. She previously played Jess Cooper in the third series of The Saddle Club. Jones wrote and directed a short film called Coping, which was screened at Tropfest in 2013. The "Ramsay Street crash" is a storyline from the Australian television soap opera Neighbours, which began on 20 August 2012 when six of the show's teenage characters were involved in a car accident. Executive producer, Richard Jasek, revealed the storyline during a July 2012 interview, stating that the consequences would last for the rest of the year. It was later announced that the storyline would focus on two major causes of road fatalities and injuries among young Australian drivers – distraction and the overloading of cars. In the "Ramsay Street crash" it is peer pressure that decides the character's fate. The cast and crew filmed the crash scenes over two nights at a driver training centre in Melbourne. Planning for the shoot began six weeks beforehand and multiple cameras were used to catch the various angles of the crash. A promotional trailer for the storyline was released on 27 July.
