Lieutenant General (rtd) Sebastian Ndeitunga (nom-de-guerre Haitota) (born 1962) is a Namibian police officer and politician,currently serving as a regional governor of Ohangwena Region. He was inspector general of the Namibian Police Force from 2005 to 2022.
Ndeitunga was born around 1962 in an Angolan village a few kilometres north of the Namibian border. He did not have a birth certificate until 1993 when he made a sworn statement to the Namibian Ministry of Home Affairs. [1] Ndeitunga holds a Bachelor of Laws and a postgraduate certificate in maritime law from the University of Havana in Cuba.[ citation needed ]
In 2005,Ndeitunga was appointed inspector general of the Namibian Police Force by president Hifikepunye Pohamba. He succeeded Lucas Hangula. [3] When he retired in August 2022,Ndeitunga was the longest serving police chief since Namibian independence. [4] [5] Ndeitunga was also vice president of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) for Africa. [6] [7] [8]
On 16 November 2023 Ndeitunga was called out of retirement by president Hage Geingob to replace Walde Ndevashiya as governor of Ohangwena Region. [9] [2]
Politics of Namibia takes place in a framework of a semi-presidential representative democratic republic,whereby the President of Namibia is both head of state and head of government,and of a pluriform multi-party system. Solomon Ehigiator Arase is a retired Nigerian police officer. He is currently the Chairman of the Nigeria Police Service Commission. He was appointed Chairman in January 2023 by President Muhammadu Buhari. Arase also served as the 18th Inspector-General of Nigerian Police (IGP) after Suleiman Abba was sacked. Before his appointment as IGP,Arase was head of the topmost intelligence gathering unit of the Nigerian police,the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Bureau.

The Namibian Police Force replaced the South West African Police as the national police force of the country in 1990. Sebastian Ndeitunga was its inspector general since 2005 to 2022. Joseph Shikongo is the current inspector general. NAMPOL's functions are overseen by the Ministry of Home Affairs,Immigration,Safety and Security.

Parry Benjamin Osemwegie Osayande is a retired Deputy Inspector General of police. He was the commissioner of police of the former Bendel state during the Anini saga which terrorised Nigeria in the 1980s. Under his watch as commissioner of police in the now defunct Bendel state,Lawrence Anini,the infamous armed robber was captured and executed. In 1990,Parry Osayande directed the operations which suppressed the Bauchi religious inspired riots in which several people died. In 1992,Osayande led the Federal Government delegation to Namibia under the auspices of the United Nations Transition Assistance Group to monitor the behaviour,conduct and activities of the South West African Police and assist Namibian citizens to hold free and fair elections. Osayande retired as Deputy Inspector General of police in 1992. He was later appointed as Chairman of the Police Service Commission in 2010 by the Goodluck Jonathan administration,a position he held until 2014. Osayande served in several committees set up by the Nigerian Federal Government to reform the Police force.
Christina Jackbin Nanghali Van-Dunem Da Fonsech-Shikongo is a Namibian police officer. She holds the rank of chief inspector in the Namibian Police Force and is known as the "Nampol Iron Lady" for her role in establishing and revamping the community policing initiatives especially in the Khomas region. She is also known for cracking down fake pastors and unscrupulous traditional healers.
