Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Sufi saint, philosopher and poet

Syed Shah Hussain, popularly known as Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, was a scholar, Sufi saint and religious-poet of present-day Pakistan and Afghanistan. He is revered and respected by both Muslims and Hindus in the region since he preached religious tolerance between the faiths. He was called Lal ("ruby-colored") after his usual red attire and "Shahbaz" to denote a noble and divine spirit and "Qalandar" as he was a wandering holy man. The spiritual song "Dama Dam Mast Qalandar", based on an original version from the 13th century, glorifies the saint and his teachings and in recent decades hase been widely popular within the Indian subcontinent.

Malakhra

Malakhra or Malakhro is an ancient Sindhi form of wrestling in Pakistan and India, which dates back 5000 years. The match begins with both wrestlers tying a twisted cloth around the opponent's waist. Each one then holds onto the opponent's waist cloth and tries to throw him to the ground. Malakhra is one of the favorite sports among males in Sindh, Pakistan and Gujarat, India. Malakhara matches are generally held on holidays and Fridays and are a feature of all fairs and festivals. Rich feudal lords and influential persons maintain famous Malhoo (wrestlers) and organize matches for them. In the Pakistani region of Sindh, it is the provincial sport.

Sehwan suicide bombing

On 16 February 2017, a suicide bombing took place inside the Shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan, Sindh, Pakistan, where pilgrims were performing a Sufi ritual after the evening prayers. At least 90 people were killed and over 300 injured.

Bodla Bahar Sufi Saint

Maaz Mulla Urdu Sindhi was a faithful partisan and devotee of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar. His mausoleum is in Sehwan Sharif, Sindh, Pakistan. His original name was Sikander. According to legends Bodla Bahar was already resident of Sehwan Sharif before coming of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz. Later, he turned to the circle of affectionate believers of the saint. He was the most reliable and trustworthy servant of Qalandar. Several myths have been related to Bodla Bahar concerning Qalandar Shahbaz. It is believed that Bodla Bahar was killed and his flesh was sold in market by butcher Annud. When Qalandar knew he called Bodla three times. After calling, the pieces of flesh of Bodla came to Qalandar and he was restored into life by Qalandar.
