History

In 2007, the stadium was chosen as the best stadium in the Liga Indonesia First Division. It was used by Persisam Putra Samarinda before they moved to Segiri Samarinda Stadium. [1]

Aji Pangeran Tumenggung Pranoto International Airport, also known as APT Pranoto Airport or Samarinda Airport, is the main airport in Samarinda, the capital city of East Kalimantan, Indonesia. It is in the district of Sungai Siring. The airport is also colloquially known as Sungai Siring Airport, to distinguish it from its predecessor, the now-closed Temindung Airport. The airport is named after Aji Pangeran Tumenggung Pranoto, the first governor of East Kalimantan who was in office from 1957 to 1961.

The 2016 Samarinda Church bombing was a terrorist attack that occurred on November 13, 2016 when a man named Juhanda detonated a Molotov bomb in front of Oikumene Church in Samarinda Seberang, Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Indonesia, where children were playing. A toddler was killed in the incident and three other toddlers were injured. In September 2017, Juhanda and four others were convicted of the attack, with Juhanda sentenced to life imprisonment, while the others received sentences ranging from six to seven years.

2018 East Kalimantan Governor Cup or 2018 East Borneo Governor Cup was the second edition of East Kalimantan Governor Cup football championship, which was held by the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) as pre-season tournament during 2018 Liga 1 season break.
